If you have a link to a site or sites from the colleges or universities, the team names, as well as their athletic baseball program, please post.
I'm trying to add more to the "Amateur" forum, where some of these will be eventually placed, and would like to insure that the womens' teams get the attention they deserve.
Please post. Any additional info about these women's college baseball teams would also be appreciated. :)
Thx.

(Notre Dame, Indiana) After two years of research and planning, a collegiate baseball opportunity for women is now a reality!
Saint Mary's College celebrates the 100th anniversary of when baseball was first played on its campus by announcing that it will offer a club sport opportunity in baseball for its students and the female students from the University of Notre Dame.
According to club sponsor John Kovach, the Archivist at Saint Mary's and a member of AAU Women's Baseball Committee, 26 different colleges and universities in the Midwest and east had expressed an interest in forming a women's baseball club. "Many of these institutions though, were looking for a model of a program already in place and Saint Mary's has chosen to be the leader in this movement," according to Kovach. "Since the first organized women's baseball was played at a women's college (Vassar), it makes sense that a women's college should be the leader in the new movement. Plus, from Saint Mary's perspective with it being the 100th anniversary of baseball introduced on campus, it's historically important as well," he went on to add.
The women from Saint Mary's and Notre Dame will attend baseball clinics led by college and professional baseball coaches. They will have the opportunity to play a number of games this fall and will look to tentatively close the baseball season with a Women's Baseball Festival at Stanley Convalesce Regional Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. Finally, the student-athletes will get an opportunity to learn about the history of girls and women in baseball along with current issues that exist in the lack of baseball opportunity for females.
The organizational aspects of creating a women's baseball club on the collegiate level will be available later this fall on CD and more discussions with officials from the NCAA and NAIA will take place to help the programs evolve. "This information is meant to be a guideline that can be tweaked for the special needs on any size college or university," said Kovach. "This is a strong grass roots opportunity which will give many women a chance to experience or re-experience baseball. These women may join existing teams in their area or decide to create teams where there are none.
Eventually, we could see women's baseball as a an intercollegiate sports opportunity. Right now however, we take it a step at a time," Kovach went on to say.
For more information on the collegiate women's baseball club sport, contact Kovach at jkovach@saintmarys.edu.

Saint Mary's College Club Baseball Begins Second Season
The Saint Mary's College Club baseball program began its second season in early September, 2006. Saint Mary's College is the only institution that offers a baseball program for women. A total of 16 players have signed-up for 2006.
Last fall, Saint Mary's marked the 100th anniversary of when baseball was first played on its campus by re-introducing the sport to its students. Last fall, players from Saint Mary's particiapated in a number of workouts with members of both the South Bend Blue Sox and Chicago Gems women's baseball teams as well as hosting a forum discussion on campus in the spring of 2007 with four members of the All-American Girl's Professional Baseball League.
A number of other local colleges and universities have expressed interest in a similar program at their school for 2007.

Katie Pappa, a member of the South Bend Blue Sox keeps a watchful eye on Maggie Dunn as she learns the techniques of pitching from a stretch. In the background is Jen Mall who is awaiting her turn to throw. Pappa is a former National MVP in women's baseball, having garnered her award at age 14!

NotAboutEgo, thanks for replying. Do you have a link to that article in post #2 here?
I've check St Mary's website, but don't see anything there about their sports program. Do you have a link to their baseball website, so that I could learn of the names of the team, stats, photos, etc?
I only have this: http://www.saintmarys.edu/
EDIT: I now see their athletic program, but nothing about women's baseball.

I've searched for a site for the team, but haven't found one. I can e-mail John Kovach to see if they have anything besides the articles set up on the web yet.
Here is the link for the story in post #2:

There are a number of colleges in Australia that have women's baseball, and I think there are some in Japan. You can check the links out on my team's site...
http://eteamz.active.com/detroitdanger/links/
You could also do a search for "women's baseball" and "Australian women's baseball."
You can try this site, too:

Thanks. I'll print out and thrumb through these articles today. :)
Yeah, if you have 3 minutes, if you can send a brief email, I believe that would help. Much obliged in advance for your efforts on that. :waving
What I'm eventually trying to do is post a sticky thread to the Amateur forum about women's college websites. I believe that this forum could also use something like that as well.

Currently, there is no web site for the Saint Mary's women's team. John receives referrals via e-mail.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything from ncaa.org about *ANY* athletic program. You'd think that would be the first place that would have an ESPN-type of great website.
If there's any group that has information on one or more women's baseball programs, please let me know. In the Amateur forum, I'd posted this about the Univ of Texas' Longhorns, a men's team:
http://www.texassports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=18&change_well_id=1
That's basically the type of informational site I'm seeking, with schedules, results, history, team name, championships, photos, etc.
Thanks for your time. :)
