Howard just topped Mark McGwire's record for HRs in first 2 full seasons. He should reach the 1000 AB mark with a career SLG% of over .600. Would he be the first?

I have different numbers. I have Howard with 80 and Mac with 81 - each in their first two full seasons.
Howard had 22, 58 - and 2 in his first partial season for his 82.
Mac had 49, 32 - and 3 in his first partial season.
Is that right?

You are correct, he still needs 1 to tie and 2 to surpass McGwire's 81.

Looks like Howard will top Williams and Dimaggio through 1000 (he's at .630 something right now). Any idea on Kleins percentage through 1000?
