Omar Vizquel has moved into third place all-time in career games played at shortstop, with 2421 games at the position. He passed Cal Jr. this season.
Omar trails Luis Aparicio (2583 G at SS) and Ozzie Smith (2511 G at SS).
Omar is also moving up the career Hits list, wtih 2470. He just passed Ozzie a couple of weeks ago (Ozzie finished his career with 2460 hits) and still trails Aparicio (2677 hits).
Omar has 6918 career Assists, which is 8th all-time among shortstops. He passed Dave Bancroft, Dave Concepcion and Larry Bowa in that category this season, and trails Ripken by 59 Assists.
He has also turned 1566 double-plays, one more than Ripken and 2nd all time among shortstop. He trails Ozzie by 24 DPs.
If Omar reaches 2500 hits, he will get strong support for the HoF. He may, anyway.
