You'd have to already be drunk to pay 7.25 for a beer. That is ridiculous. Everything has gotten bad over the past few years. Unless I'm taking kids I don't buy anything at the concession stands anymore.

I almost never buy food and drinks at the park anymore. I'd rather bring in my own and save $20. I feel bad for fans of teams that don't let you do that. :(

I don't know this for a fact, I suppose we'd have to get posters representing most of the different ML teams to chime in and verify it, but it seems to me that concession prices, not to mention ticket prices, would tend to be higher for the teams who spend the most money on salaries. They have to get that investment back somehow, and I imagine it comes back to them in the form of concessions, ticket prices, parking, etc.
I know here in Oakland only three years ago, they still had Tuesday night bleacher seats for $1. A buck, that was it. For today's game, a regular plaza level seat goes for $20.
In looking at the seating arrangement for Yankee Stadium, I find a 'Tier Box MVP' seat to be about the same distance from the field, and it is going for $52. Wow, that's quite a disparity. I guess the enormous salaries have to be paid by someone, and Da Boss certainly isn't going to, the fans are, just like everywhere else.
I have no idea what the difference is in concession prices, but it's probably pretty comparable.

Well, they won't let you bring any food into the stadium, they know everyone is going to be hungry from walking around and sitting for 9 innings so why not shoot up the price. I bet I would do the same, I just don't like it.

The Jays had a couple of "Toonie Tuesdays" at the beginning of the season. Any upper deck seat for $2. And from what my friends tell me, it was pretty easy to get down to the 100 Level and snag an empty seat down there. I never did it. I was happy with my seat up there.
Personally, I grab a hot dog outside and eat it while walking to the gate. I bring a bag of peanuts and two bottles of water. And then at the 7th inning stretch, I buy an Ice Cream. Total cost: $8.50. Can't beat it.
PS: We call our $2 coins "toonies" in Canada. Just in case anyone was wondering.

The problem with the Toonie Tuesdays is that I have a flex pack on the 500 level and a couple of the games I had wound up being Toonie Tuesdays and they didn't credit me for them at all so I wound up paying 7.95 for 2 buck seats.
Rogers Centre: 12 oz. beer = 8.50. The only saving grace of which is that of the beer to choose from at the normal vendors everything's the same price. So you can either pay 8.50 for a Bud, a Budlight, or MOOSEHEAD. Not exactly a tough call.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if by the end of the decade we will see on average:
$17 Parking
$8 hot dogs
$8 Cokes
$15 beer
$12 scorecards
$6.50 peanuts and popcorn

Man. $40??!?!!!? In downtown Seattle, it's usually $5-$15, but if you know where to look, you can find free parking. You might have to walk a little bit, but the free parking is almost always there.
I don't know this for a fact, I suppose we'd have to get posters representing most of the different ML teams to chime in and verify it, but it seems to me that concession prices, not to mention ticket prices, would tend to be higher for the teams who spend the most money on salaries. From what I've heard, the ticket and concession prices usually have almost nothing to do with player salaries. It's economics. Owners will try to maximize their profits from ticket sales and concessions; the more they charge, the less people will buy, so they try to find a balance between cost and number of sales.
There is quite possibly some relation between players signing big contracts and higher prices; when a team signs a big player, they'll (hopefully) win more. More wins means more fans will be willing to spend higher prices.
It seems like yesterday (well 1984 isn't THAT long ago...) that I used to go to Dodger Stadium and encounter:

If you ever go to Fenway, don't try to park at the park. Fenway was built so long ago that there is no stadium parking, and if you want to park nearby you have to shoehorn your car into one of the very few on-street spaces or pay anywhere from $20 to up to $90+ for a spot in a lot. The price goes up if there's a hot series being played.
Your best bet is to take the "T". Pay a couple oif bucks to park in Newton or something, and a couple of bucks to ride the train. Forget trying to drive in.
I wouldn't know about the beer at Fenway, but last time I went (June '05) water was $4.50 for a 20oz bottle; hot dogs were $3.50, little pizzas $4.50, and so on. And you aren't allowed to take in any food or water at all, so unless you want to go without, or drink city water from a fountain (yuck), you are stuck.

$17 Parking
That's not bad. At Shea it is $15 depending on the team they are playing. They have different pay levels. $15 against Braves and Yankess, less against other teams that don't draw a crowd.
Don't know about Yamkee stadium as we take the Ferry and subway there. Just much easier.
We went to Wrigley. One wanted to charge $40- amd that was someone's backyard. A fast food joint wanted $20, so we pulled in and asked for an ouside spot because we weren't staying the whole game. the guy said no problem and we took an end spot. We all got out and he said $30. We were pissed I tell ya! I was screaming how everyone thought we were ***holes here in NY. You guys are worse, I kept saying. We paid the $30 and off we went. Not too happy though.
how was the trip to Denver?
It was awesome. We had a great time. Although no homeruns were hit. That was the reason my husband wanted to go there. "To see if the balls fly as far as they say they do." Oh well, next time. LOL

Yeah another saving grace about Rogerskydome is you can bring stuff in as long as it's packaged. So say a hotdog from the street vendor you can't bring in but a sandwich you put in a ziplock at home is fine. No cans, but you can bring in plastic bottles under 600ml, and unlike buying bottled stuff from vendors they don't take your lids.

This is why my family and I only go to see the Rangers when Boston is in town or we get free tickets. We prefer to spend our money at our local AA team (frisco roughriders) where parking is free and the cheap seats are cheap. We also love the new Texas Collegiate league. Season tickets for 3 of us cost 60 bucks (about 25 games).
On a side note, I won't pay the crazy fees to see the Rangers play until they put a decent team on the field.

Probably not, they don't even really pay attention either, they check 1 compartment of a backpack, never both if you've got multiple huge zippered areas in it. Decent for getting bigger then allowed bottles of pop in.
Look at it this way, between the 3 people I was at the game with tonight we went through a kilogram of peanuts. From the grocery store we bought them at in the morning it cost us a little bit over 4 bucks. In the stadium a 250 gram bag will cost you $4.50 I think, might be 5 bucks.
The thing is, as long as people keep paying for it they'll keep charging it. Just boycott the concessions if you hate paying so much for the product.

Is that an upscale bar? A mixed drink is a mixed drink but So Co is not single malt scotch.
In Cincinnati, there are plenty of vendors selling bags of peanuts outside GAB, for quite a bit cheaper than inside. The hot dog and beer prices aren't too bad, yet.

It's only $5 to park at Alewife and $2.50 roundtrip for the T...that's where I almost always park when I come down from NH. I did park at MIT once for free, but that's a little too risky for me. I have parked near Fenway twice out of necessity and never want to do it again.
This one blew me away last Friday night...Italian sausage OUTSIDE THE PARK, $7. WTF?!?!?!? I had a free ticket, started out with $60 in my pocket and ended up with exactly $0 after paying to leave Alewife. Did buy a $5 non-MLB hat on the way out, so I spent $50 on just food and beer without really overindulging. (Put the $2.50 for the T on a card, cash is so inconvenient in those stupid new machines)

Did they go down after he left? I'm curious.
At Yankee Stadium, you can bring a drink, such as water, in a clear plastic bottle, but nothing over 24 oz, which I think is the size limit. Food can be in a clear plastic container.
Sooner or later, I'll want a hot dog or nachos & cheese, so the stadium will get my money. However, when I'm seeing $4.50 for a bag of peanuts that I could get for $1 at a local pharmacy or convenience store, there's no way I'm spending the big bucks.
I think that parking's around $13.00 at Yankee Stadium, and it's a little more at the lots closer to the stadium itself (around $16, I believe).

But can anyone top this. At Miami University (Ohio), you have to pay $3.25 if you just want ice. Of course, on that day, I was a guest of the band but it was HOT.
