....Found Us a Shore Manor.

Sammy Sosa and Roger Maris are the players to have pulled off this seasonal feat. As usual (but not always), the answer must tie into the title of this thread.

Sosa actually did this combination of Good News/Bad News three times.

Something to do with strikeouts, and either HR or MVP voting?

As there is no "K" or "P" in the title I would have to say no.

Obvious that Sosa and Maris hit over 60 homers thrice and once, respectively, and "sixty" can be anagramed from the title but dang if I can find the bad news part.

Curious if the second part of the verse ("...Found us a Shore Manor.") counts as part of the title?

"Over" and "sixty" are correct.

"Over sixty homers / four hundred outs in a season" comes up one "S" short.

"Over four hundred outs in a sixty homer season."

Bravo on the anagram!

That was a son-of-a-gun to come up with. Finally had to cheat and spell Styx with an added "e".

I originally thought you said "Forty Homers", and I spent about half an hour searching that (I got Adam Dunn three times in a row (including this season), Alfonso Soriano ( this season, again), Rafael Palmeiro (twice, nearly three times), Sammy Sosa (probobly too many times to count), Jimmie Foxx, Luis Gonzalez (In a 57-home season!), A-Rod (Because he had too many ABs...686? Wow.), Ken Griffey Jr., George Foster, Willie Mays, Jim Thome, Cecil Fielder, Ralph Kiner, Brady Anderson, Albert Belle, Greg Vaughn, Andre Dawson, Lou Gehrig...and then I said "wait...")

Sammy Sosa (three times!), Roger Maris (1961)

Mark McGwire (1997) Sammy Sosa (three times!), Roger Maris (1961)

I don't think McGwire hit over 60 until 1998.

Ah, my bad. Take McGwire off the list, then.
