This team had a third baseman with a .200 batting average,258 obp and he slugged .299 during the regular season. He was also oh for three in steals during the regular season. He played in 150 games so he wasn't some sub.
Name the player and the team.
By the way, does anyone know if a World champ has had a regular starter with poorer numbers? Just curious...

Lee Tannehill was .183/.254/.220 for the appropriately named Hitless Wonder '06 White Sox. Didn't play as much as your boy, whoever he is, but enough to have been the team's primary 3b.
In my lifetime, there was Ray Oyler, ss of the '68 Tigers, who was .135/.212/.186. He's listed as Detroit's primary SS, but had only 215 ABs, so I guess that's not really a regular, even if no one else played the position more.
That was the year they moved in Mickey Stanley from their crowded OF to play ss in the World Series.

Although they didn't win the World Series the 1973 Mets were pretty pathetic at hitting the ball.
Runs 82
Hits 185
HR 23
RBI 76
AVG .279
SB 6
No, those aren't the averages. Those are the team leaders in each category. Nobody batting over .280, nobody had more than 80 RBI's, and nobody hit more than 25 homers. Needless to say they made it to the series by playing in a weak division, having good pitching, and a well played series against the Reds in the playoffs.

I was looking for Wert. If memory serves me correct, those Mets didn't have a player with even 100 hits during the regular season. Who had the 185? Or am I thinking of another weak hitting winner Mets team? I just checked and you're correct. Wasn't there a Met team in the 70's where the top hitsman had just 90 or so hits?

The 1988 Dodgers were another inept hitting World Championship team.
Alfredo Griffin was their regular SS, although only played in 99 games He batted .199 /.259 / .253 in over 300 ABs. 7/12 is SBs. Pretty anemic

Then somehow they took the mighty A's 7 games before losing.

Right away I thought "Gotta be Todd Cruz." (1983 Orioles) I didn't know how bad, but I figured he was close. He did hit .208, with .259 oba and .299 slg, so I was very close. However, he only appeared in 81 games, far fewer than I recalled.
