I can't believe that game. Kent, Drew, Martin then Anderson tie it with 4 straight home runs.

Sele gives up the lead, Lofton gets on a Nomar wins it. I even told a buddy of mine that Nomar is due for a HR. I'm so happy!

This win is huge, we got division title back and this could be what we needed to go into the playoffs.

4 home runs on 4 batters. Has that ever happened before? 3 on 3 ever happened?

Greatest Dodger moment since Nomo's no-hitter?

No, but it was three homers on three consecutive pitches and yes, the four consecutive homers has been done three times previously, the last being the 1964 Twins.

That's right, Nomar. Your two-run blast in the 10th
sends the Dodgers back to first in the NL West. (AP)

Dodgers go power-happy, rally past Pads in dramatic fashion (http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20060918_SD@LA)
LOS ANGELES -- Heads were shaking in both clubhouses. Nobody could believe what they had just seen.

And no wonder -- what they saw hadn't happened since 1964.

Los Angeles hit four consecutive homers in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, and Nomar Garciaparra's two-run homer in the 10th lifted the Dodgers to an 11-10 victory over the San Diego Padres on Monday night and back into first place in the NL West.

"That was the greatest game I've ever seen. I've never seen anything like that," Dodgers reliever Brett Tomko said.

For the record, here are the teams that hit four consecutive homers in a game and the players who hit them:

1961 Milwaukee Braves: The likely quartet of Mathews, Aaron, Jim Maloney (who was a decent hitter for a pitcher) and Adcock.

1963 Cleveland Indians: The rather unlikely quartet of Woodie Held, Pedro Ramos, Tito Francona and the light-hitting Larry Brown.

1964 Minnesota Twins: The VERY likely quartet of Oliva, Allison, Jimmie Hall and Killebrew.

2006 Los Angeles Dodgers: The not particularly likely combo of Kent, Drew, Russell Martin and Marlon Anderson. Followed, of course, by Nomar's WONDERFUL walk-off! :gt

I don't want to date myself but I was actually listening to the game when the Twins cracked their four in a row.

Even though I wanted the Pads to win, that was still special. Poor Trevor Hoffman and Jon Adkins, though!

that was remarkable.

that sucks for the phillies, though. which sucks for me, cus they're my team for september given the red sox troubles.

but i think that win might energize the dodgers for a while, and i think the padres are just better than both the dodgers and the phillies.

which means the phillies will be chasing a team that's a liittle bit worse than they are, but extremely energized, or a team that's just a lot better than them.

that was amazing, I still don't believe it.

I didn't see it live because I thought the game was over so I was doing something else and when I found out about it I was happy as hell but also a bit disappointed that I didn't see it live.

I know this is about MLB talk, but this past June South Carolina hit 5 HRs in a row in their 11-5 regional win over Georgia. Amazing at any level.

Hey Marlon Anderson hit the game-tier didn't he? I remember last year he hit a bottom of the 9th, 2 out, game-tying inside the park homer for the Mets. It was awesome.

I wonder how many fans of both teams left the game a little early? :ughh

Must have been terrible for them.. I had a friend leave that oilers-bills game early... still haunts him to this day..

Eh, thousand of dodger fans leave early most of the time anyway

4 HR on 8 pitches.

I was watching the game last night and the camera focused on a handful of people outside the stadium gates and as soon as Anderson went yard, they stood frozen in their tracks. The look on their faces was priceless.

I heard one of the announcers say that most folks had stayed later than usual that evening, and guessed more than 20,000 were still there when the hit parade began. I couldn't help but think that this might be a harbinger of things to come in October, but the LAD's need to beat the Pirates, D'backs, Rockies, and Giants to get there. I was also reminded of Vin Scully's memorable utterance: "..In this improbable season, the impossible has happened." BTW, Nomar is still better than Jeter! :laugh :laugh :laugh

Ain't going to happen. LA has faced the bottom three in the NL Central and is a combined 2-5 against them. They're 4-4 against the Mets and Padres. Go figure.

Too sad injuries had cost his career.
