I finally found some documentation on Satch's age.

Hope you can open it up. It is on Ancestry.com and shows the page for Satchels family from the 1910 US Federal Census. It lists him as four years old in 1910. Lists all his family members. Their family name was Page, not Paige, which made it difficult to find.
