Should Bill Stoneman, the GM, try to pursue Jeff Suppan from free agency during the winter? He is a good pitcher, and he has proven the Cardinals that he can be a good starter. The problem is, he has John Lackey, Bartolo Colon, Jered Weaver, Joe Saunders, Kelvim Escobar and Ervin Santana to compete with in Spring Training. If Escobar, Saunders or Santana don't make the rotation, he should help the rotation.

I really hate to see "Soup" go from St. Louis, but it's baseball. In addition, he'd be dealing with more pressuring sluggers, as in Thome, Ramirez, and others. It shouldn't be any problems, once Bud Black tells him what he should do against the powerhouses of the American League.

He's really not that good of a pitcher. He has a respectable ERA, but his WHIP is pretty terrible and he doesn't strike batters out. He would get eaten up in the AL...Both Escobar and Santana are much better options

Right now, I say yes, Suppan would be a great addition, he can pitch many innings but WHIP will kill you.

A solid upper-tier 4 or 5th starter.

Colon
Lackey
Santana
Weaver
Suppan

I'll be pissed off if they signed a starting pitcher. They have the best starting pitching staff in ERA in all of baseball without the Cy Young award winner Colon.
Offense is what they need, I'll have my eyes on Tori Hunter, or Soriano. Two perfect candidates for Angels style ball.
