I recently read The Pioneers, by James Fenimore Cooper, for an English class. Cooper's father, William, is the founder of Cooperstown, NY.
Cooper is featured prominently in Cooperstown. The author of Last of the Mohicans has a nice monument a stone's throw away from the HOF.
War hero Abner Doubleday has a restaurant named after him.
