Ok, Soriano finally got to 40/40, so now the question arises, will he be the first ever to get 45/45? Could he even?

My answer is not listed....Who cares? I don't understand the fascination with stolen bases combined with HRs. Who on earth needs a power guy to steal bases. This reminds me of 30 years ago when John Stearns set the record for stolen bases by a catcher. Who cares? The Mets were in last place. Washington is in last place.

I suppose that since a power hitter doesn't hit HR EVERY at-bat, there will be times when he gets a single, and then if he can steal second, and gets into scoring position, well, then, he can score a run. ;) Think of it as the difference between Paul Konerko on first, and Soriano on first....I'd rather have Soriano on first. :)
BTW, I don't think Soriano will do it this year, and I have my doubts about it ever happening.

I remember all the talk in 1986 that Eric Davis was going to be a 50-50 guy. Excitement was in the air for some. I just let out a yawn but I see your point Sweet Lou

I think I see your point as well about all these crazy stats....first 2nd Baseman to hit 30 homeruns, steal 20 bases, draw 100 walks, hit100 RBI and only strike out 80 times...(Are those numbers even that great? I DON'T KNOW!:D)

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. I think it all got started in 1980 with that McCovey record breaker card. My bro and I got a kick out of that one.

Go in intervals of 10... so 20/20, 30/30, 40/40 next big deal should be 50/50

None of that garbage that the media spurts out about how he is the first player ever to (this is an example) hit 46 HRs while stealing 23 bases and driving in 147!

It is quite possible to rach 45-45 now with Sori's current numbers but 50-50 is stretching it.

yeah, it's possible, but I don't think he'll steal more than 3 more bases.
I agree also, increments of 10. Shoot, we could have the 41-41 club, the 42-42 club, etc. :D

Why bother tying the numbers? Perhaps he'll hit the 48-43 club. ;) :p

Yeah, but Soriano gets caught 30% of the time so he turns 30% of those singles into extended-life outs instead of turning them into doubles.

Yes, his percentage this year has been terrible. He's done better in years past.

This guy could still be a 50/50 guy.

This year? No way. He may hit 5 more homeruns (doubtful, but possible) but there's no way he's stealing 10 bases in 14 games.
