With his 100mph+ fastball, sub 3 ERA, and more than a K per IP, does Zumaya make a running at the award.
Zumaya takes over the closer's job next year when Todd Jones heads out to pasture. Can he perform in the clutch?

With Verlander, Papelbon, and Liriano, Zumaya doesn't have much of a shot. Plus, he's a setup man.

Im afraid that Zumaya is not even the ROY in its own team, Verlander is.

I think that's my problem with Zumaya. Verlander is the same pitcher with bigger numbers because he's a starter. Justin Duscherrer (sp?) was the same thing with Huston Street last year. A great set-up man with a low ERA, WHIP, and good K/IP and K/BB ratio. Set-up men don't get the attention, but they don't pitch the innings. Unlike Duscherrer in Oakland, I think Zumaya roles into the closer role next year.

Zumaya is amazing in his own right, but unfortunantly he's come up with a plethura of oustanding young talent.

I meant he's in the shadow of a hot rookie. But I didn't know he wasn't a rookie last season. I guess I'm a little slow :noidea

Are you serious...
He is the fastest current pitcher...
He is a Set-up Man for Detroit Tigers, he hits 102 mph consistently and i have heard he has hit 103 this year.
How fast did Nolan Ryan pitch anyway? Since i'm so young i have never even got to seen Nolan Ryan in a game on the T.V., I was just wondering if zumaya throws harder than him.
