I listen to as many games as possible on XM. There are some very good announcers such as LA's Vin Scully, and the guy in KC.... Sorry, I don't know his name. I like Mike Shannon in Stl; Seattle's announcer is too outrageous for my taste. Tell me the names of your team's radio voices. Too lazy to look it up myself:

The Braves' announcers switch between radio and TV halfway through each game when it's on TBS, that much I know.

Jerry Howarth and Warren Sockew (I don't know if its spelled right or not!!) in Toronto and they do a great job!!

I really don't like the egomaniac and his wench who do the Yankees games.

Alright, here goes with the broadcasters for the Giants:

Jon Miller
Dave Fleming
Duane Kuiper
Mike Krukow
Greg Papa
And occasionally F.P. Santangelo has joined the crew this season. Seems like I'm forgetting someone, but for the life of me I can't think of who.

On the WEEI Red Sox Radio Network, it's Joe Castiglione and Jerry Trupiano, also known as Cat and Trup (or Troop). Cat's signature call is "Can you believe it?" and Trupie does a great home-run call: "Way back! WAAAAY BACK! And it's GONE!" (Okay, ot doesn't look like much when written out, but when you hear him say it--!!:D :D )

For the Orioles:

Joe Angel, Jim Hunter, and Fred Manfra on the radio

Buck Martinez, Jim Palmer, and Jim Hunter on TV

I agree with you, I was in Missouri this summer and I would listen to the Royals games every night. GREAT announcer.

Seattle's announcer is too outrageous for my taste.

Lead Play-by-Play: Dave Neihaus and Rick Rizzs (one does TV while the other does radio - then they switch in the middle of the 5th inning).

Commentary: Ron Fairly (also does a share of the radio play-by-play in the 5th when they are changing over), Dave Valle (talks slow), Dave Henderson (talks about himself).

Harry Khalis, Larry Anderson, and Scott Grahm (SP)......Harry Khalis is god, simple as that. I'm not sure, but I dont think Chris Wheeler does Radio so youre lucky, he's horrible. But yes, listen to Harry Khalis on the radio between the fourth and seventh innings...you wont be disappointed.:)

Harry Khalis may note be infact God but I'll be damned If he ain't borrowing his vocal cords. That man was ment to do play by play. I'd put him up there with Vin Scully, Jack Buck and Keith Jackson as one of the all time greats.

You honestly Hate Charlie Steiner? I think the Guy is more than adequate. From what I heard of him on Yankee Broadcasts he was basicly the voice of reason to Sterling's Yankee version of Baghdad Bob. But then again next to Sterling Gilbert Godfrey would sound just south of Mel Allen so I guess it's all realtive.

I was driving through New Jersey (best place to be if you want to hear baseball) and I was flipping through stations, and I eventually stuck with the Phils' game because I liked the announcer, over the Yankees game (everyone who says John Sterling is horrible, they're right), the Mets (?) game (nothing special), the Orioles game (hear it every night), the Pirates game (mediocre announcer), and the Nats game (couldn't hear it too well).

Along with Vin Scully, Harry Khalis is in an elite class. I remember him from days I lived in NJ listening to the Phillies. Also, there's someone in Boston who's equally as good. I just gotta remember write these names down. Rick Monday has an excellent voice. I agree that the Pittsburgh announcer will simply put you to sleep. The Yankees' his and her duo is sometimes off and sometimes on. Its hard to follow up on the Ernie Harwell, Red Barber, Mel Allen, and Jack Buck types.

Welcome to the club. That's Hawk Harrelson of the White Sox, and he sounds like a braying jackass.

The Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman, the "Bad Boy" Steve Stewart (he is gone after this year), and sometimes the "Old Left-Hander" Joe Nuxhall.

BTW, he does TV, not radio. Ed Farmer and Chris Singleton (new this year) to radio for the White Sox. Ed Farmer is pretty good. I haven't made up my mind about Singleton.

On the other side of town, there's the loveable but somewhat pathetic Ron Santo, and Pat Hughes. I wish Ron talked more about strategy and was less of a "hopeful, sad Cubs fan", if you know what I mean.
Out in Seattle for my first game at Safeco this past summer, I heard Dave Neihaus (sp?) and really liked him. On the other side of the country, Harry Kalas rocks the world.

Living in the Bay Area, I get a chance to listen to both the Giants' and Athletics' announcers, and I can tell you, hands down, that Mike Krukow is EASILY the biggest homer I have heard in years. Yeah, I know there may be others who are worse, but this guy's a joke! He tosses around superlatives for Giants' pitchers so often, you'd think every one of them was a Cy Young candidate. I hear him constantly telling us what a great pitch it was that just got hit 500 feet ("That was an OUTSTANDING slider, give Pujols credit for hitting it into the next county"). When Armando Benitez gave up a game-losing hit for the umpteenth time (this guy makes Octavio Dotel look like Bruce Sutter), Krukow had the temerity to say how he has been pitching in bad luck all year. No, Kruk, the guy just sucks! And so, by the way, do you.

Just my opinion, though! :dance

I disagree with the ratings on this attachment. I think KC's Denny Mathews should be 1 in the AL. Also, Harry Kalas after Vin Scully in the NL. but, here's some links:

Do the Mets still have Howie Bader Rose on Radio? That has got to be the single most annoying voice in all of baseball. I thank my lucky stars that I'm far enough away to not have to listen to it. Gary Cohen Ginsberg stinks to high heaven also, if he's still around. Why do I think these 2 are still around? Gimme any ex ballplayer instead, I talking any.

Funny about Henderson; Fairly also does a good job making himself sound like is a HOFer as well.

Yes he does. But, he's usually set up by Neihaus or Rizzs for those moments. "You were victim of a few no hitters, right Red?" "Oh, yeah... blah blah blah, blah blah, yackkity poo..."

On the other hand, Henderson will take a question about today's players and compare them to when he played. Every... single... time...
"Ichiro has 30 stolen bases in a row now, without being caught. How about that, Hendu?"
"Well, back when I played for the Athletics, Rickey Henderson... blah blah blah, yackity poopy doo, Me, me, me, me, me, Rickey, me."

I got to the point where I e-mailed the M's fan letters section asking for them to stop putting a microphone in front of that guy. It worked, I guess. He doesn't do much commentary anymore - at least not on the radio side (where I get most of my M's action).

I'm not sure who Cardinals have on the radio but on T.V. they have Dan the longhead and Ale the Idiot

I hate them both and i'm sick of hearing them.

The radio guys for the Tigers are Dan Dickerson and Jim Price. Now talk about contrasts... Price would have called Bobby Thomson's shot heard round the world something like this:

Touch 'em all, Bobby!

Dickerson calls a more exciting game, by far... he'll get overenthused about any Tiger rally, including ones like this, with Detroit trailing by three runs with two out in the ninth:
That's a walk to Guillen, and now the Tigers have the tying run on deck!!!!

but the Tigers finally seem to have a stable combination on the radio.

The Blue Jays just lost Tom Cheek to a brain tumour last year - he had been the radio announcer since the team began to play in 1977. Tom and Jerry - the two main announcers, had about a 25 year run together, and they were funny, well-informed, and reasonably impartial.

Yeah, I was spoiled. I don't care for the Tiger announcers as much as the ones they replaced. Radio: Ernie Harwell / Paul Carey. TV: George Kell / Al Kaline. I liked Carey as much as Harwell. The FSN guys are generally good but, they don't have the voice that Kell has.

I don't mind Steiner so much as an announcer but I'm not real fond of his show on XM.. I actually kinda find it so boring... He's really into using big words on his show;)

Gary Cohen and Howie Rose announce for the Mets:gt

Great link!:clapping Thanks for that..

IMO Bob Uecker is rated too high in the NL.. He sounds so bored and uninterested during his games....
