Glad you enjoyed it, BF. I know I did.
It's good to see the Pirates trying to develop their team. I so hate to see any team down for too long.
Do you think that they will be able to secure some players, over the next two/three years, to make them contenders? One thing is for sure, when you have a sparkplug like Sanchez, it becomes infectious. You also have Zady (that's my nickname for him) (Xavier Nady), who is one terrific player when given the chance to play every day. Though I am not a Mets fan, I believe the Mets are going to regret that trade. I watch the Mets most of the time, and he really impressed me. He covers a lot of ground out there in right, and was developing into quite a hitter. I am sure he will do very well with the Pirates. He is also a good guy in the clubhouse, so younger players will learn from him.

Fine article on a player who is truly functioning under the radar.

Until this year I knew PNC Park, which was open three or four years ago, as a neutral park but the huge gap between home and away figures in avg and OPS for the whole team : 285 /776 in home vs 245/687 away makes me wonder if there was a change in the park which was not issue to the public.
In fact opposites teams are doing so well in PNC as Pirates (.278 AVG / 767 OPS) and are crushing the Pirates offensive by 44 points of avg. and 142 points of OPS in difference (.289/.829) when Pittsburgh is visitor.
Sanchez is not an exception in this "monster" season in PNC: 388 avg, 422 obp, 519 SLG (941 OPS) but only a "so so" season in the other 15 parks of NL: .305 avg, .340 OBP, 440 SLG (780 OPS).
The lone exception in this mirage of offensive explosion in the Pirates lineup is Jason Bay which looks the same guy home and away:
.290 avg, 918 OPS at home vs .281 avg, 942 OPS away.
PNC is a new kind of hitters paradise? Is Sanchez so real as hitter?
