if someone was pitching with some wrong mechanics then hopw much speed would they lose. also how much speed would they lose by not pitching on a mound?

I'd say from a mound you would gain about 3 Mph, because you use more muscles to go downhill then on flatground.
It depends how bad the mechanics are, you can lose up to 7 mph if they are really bad. The best mechanics are smooth mechanics, don't look herky jerky or like a robot. Do not focus on arm extension, some people say it makes you closer to the plate, which makes you throw harder because your closer. Which is wrong. You will usually throw lighter. When a pitcher focuses on arm extension his weight transfer is poor so the trunk flexes forward instead of rotating first, which kills arm speed which kills speed. Your stride should be 80% or more of your height because that's the only thing that is going to get you closer to the plate without your trunk flexing forward instead of rotating first, also haveing the long stride will make your lower body fling your upper body through with elastic energy which increases velocity. Pitching comes from transfering weight on your back foot towards the plate with an explosive motion and elastic energy.
