A good number of Braves fans remember Otis Nixon's catch in 1992, but does anyone remember anything else about it?

1. Who hit that ball?
2. Who pitched the ball?
3. What would have happened if Nixon didn't catch the ball, specifically?

Andy Van Slyke hit the ball. If I remember correctly there was one person on base. I believe Atlanta was up by one run in the game, but I am not sure. They were on a long winning streak something like 10 games. I remember Van Slyke grabbing his helmet in disbelief. I can still picture his facial expression. I know it was the series between Pittsburg and Atlanta. I remember watching the play live, but it's funny how time plays trick on you. I am looking forward to all of the information of Otis Nixon's catch.

You are correct that it was Andy Van Slyke who hit the ball and that Atlanta was up by one run. :) Now who was the pitcher at the time?

For some reason I am wanting to say Steve Bedrosion, but I don't think that is right. For some reason I am thinking about that home run he gave up against the Blue Jays in the world series (unfortunately nobody could get to that one). At first, I was thinking that Nixon's catch was in the the same game that Bream scored the winning run to beat the Pirates, but then I realized that I was mistaken. For some reason Charlie Liebrandt is coming to mind, but I am just guessing right now so I think I will stop.

It was. :) Then Kent Mercker came on to face Orlando Merced, who walkd to bring up Barry Bonds, but Bonds grounded out to Brian Hunter at first base. And thus, Otis Nixon's catch saved the game for the Braves. :gt
