What do Jim Rooker, Joe Niekro, and Sonny Siebert have in common?
I also want to ask for help regarding this. I know there is a fourth pitcher that belongs. But I can't remember who it is and can't find the boxscore that answers the question.
There is a subtle hint in the title .

John Rooker = Jim Rooker

In 1970 Horace Clarke broke up no-hit bids of each of these pitchers in the 9th inning.

Thank you for the corection. I don't know why I thought John.
Of course you are right. Do you remember who the fourth was?

On 5/12/1967, leading off the 7th inning, Clarke got the only hit off Jim Palmer. Couldn't find any other games where he got a hit in the ninth though.

maybe it was only three. But I seem to remember four. We do agree on three, though.

It was three and I believe he did it in a period of 28 days, which may or may not have been in 1 calendar month. I'm not positive, I'll have to look it up later.

I remember the games well. It was one of the few bright seasons in CBS's reign as owner with a second place finish, showing signs that the dreary late 60's may be ending.
That was also the year Murcer finished second in hitting and Fritz Peterson won 20.
How strange it is to read Sparky Lyle saving a game for Boston against the Yankees. But of course that trade was another Yankee gem later.
