1) Jack Wilson and Brian Bixler to Toronto for 1b Lyle Overbay (They need a shortstop and maybe Bixler will be the heir when Jack's contract runs out.)
2) Jose Bautista and Doumit to Philly for rhp Brett Myers (They need a third baseman and a young catcher. Plus the Phillies got great pitching coming up through the minors.)
3) Sign Cliff Floyd. (I know he is going to be 34-35 next year, but Jim Thome is older and coming from an injury last year, Reggie Sanders was older when we got him, and Oakland signed Frank Thomas. Plus, I do not see anything else out there in the free-agency market this year. )
4) Move Nady to third (He plays a great corner position at first, plus he played right field for the mets he has to have the arm for it.)

Overbay has 20 HR and 80 RBI so unless we get the all-star Jack Wilson back, I don't see that happening.
Unless we get a VERY good pitching prospect too.

1- Sign Bruce Chen , even though being an occasionally good pitcher , moving to the NL could be good , this would be worth the gamble .
2- Sign Sandy Alomar Jr. , veteran catcher will help Paulino and Doumit devellop .
3- Sign Jose Guillen , good arm and bat , would be a great signing .
4- Trade Jose Castillo to Houston for Morgan Ensberg , start Ensberg at 3rd and Sanchez at 2nd .

You got Xavier Nady and we don't (and Jason Bay, who we naturally traded to the Padres for Jason Middlebrook...). Darn. But believe me when I say you do NOT want Cliff Floyd. I'd A) be shocked if the Mets re-sign him, B) he has an enormous salary, and C) he is VERY injury-prone. Not the sort of guy who goes on the 60-day disabled list, but the sort of guy who gets a bunch of minor injuries that pile up to the point where he might as well be. I'll gladly give you Floyd in exhcange for the X-Man, but that's being kinda selfish and unrealistic. So back to reality. Floyd's injuries and gigantic salary are rather preventative, IMO, of any team signing him unless they're desperate. If you're willing to pay Cliff Floyd's salary, I say go with Andruw Jones (believe me...with the Braves running out of money, they're not gonna resign him). You'll get a much more well-rounded player, a five-tool player, and someone who is an asset to ANY ballclub.
We also had Bruce Chen for a while. His AL stats are basically equal to his NL stats...you don't want him. You could always get Glendon Rusch from the Cubs for a better, more consistent pitcher. He also isn't going to cost very much and I THINK his contract expires in the offseason.
Just a polite Mets fan who follows the careers of the guys that once played/play for his team giving hopefully helpful advice...
