I just saw ESPN's Greatest Catch of the year....It was Brian Giles terrific catch in Pittsburgh in 2005 (was it '06?). lt made me recall an amazing play by Roberto Clemente against the Cardinals. It was 1965 and was the last Cardinal game I saw in St Louis in the old park. I cant remember who was pitching nor even who won the game but the catch was memorable. Sportsmans Park had a short right field fence ....310 ft down the line but it had a 9 ft wall and above it a screen in front of a pavilion that reached about 20 ft high. Clemente tracked a line drive that was at least 10 or 11 ft high against the screen, literally climbed up the concrete wall and made the catch. Cardinal fans were stunned and gave Clemente a standing ovation. Giles catch was indeed great but I have to tell you, Clemente's catch eclipsed it.

I believe the catch from Giles was the year he was traded to the Padres, so 2004?

It was actually ESPN's Pirates Three Greatest Web Gems. The main criteria for this "award" is that video must exist of the play.
