What if the Baseball Hall of Fame were made more exclusive -- admitting no more than four players at each position?

Who would be your four picks at Left Field?

Williams, Musial, Simmons, Yaz. In that order.

No question that Musial and Williams belong in there, along with Delahanty and Simmons

Teddy Ballgame and Stan the Man are Head and Shoulders above the rest.
After that I could throw a blanket over the rest and close my eyes and pull two out. When I did, I came up with Yaz and Kiner.

Ted Williams
Stan Musial
Ralph Kiner(IMO,he's get overlooked a lot)

And then...I dunno....I'd say Willie Stargell

Williams, Musial, Yaz, Delahanty. A lot of not yet eligible and/or Negro Leaguers in between too.

In all seriousness, this is fascinating. Where is Barry Bonds?

In addition, Musial played more right field than left field, and even played over 100 games in center one season.

Even though he was a little weird Ted Williams was the man.

I only voted for three (Williams, Musial, Delahanty) because my fourth wasn't a choice. Joe Jackson. All four of those guys rate in my top 15 players of all time.

If I had to choose another player from this list, it would be Simmons, although I'm tempted to say Manny Ramirez would pass Simmons were he eligible. Barry Bonds can go **** himself.

Musial, Williams, Simmons and Yaszstczrzemski

Williams, Musial, Delehanty, Yaz

though I would have replaced Yaz with Rickey Henderson if he were eligible.

Anynbody that voted Kiner needs to have their head examined.

I'm a huge Yaz fan, but I can't believe that he's receiving more support that Delahanty and Simmons?

OPS+
Ed:152
Yaz:130
Al: 132

Yaz went through his decline phase, however, and he played in a stronger league and had better defense.

538280's system:
Yaz: 393.62
Ed: 375.8
Al: 342.01

Not to mention his peak, when he was better than those guys too. Yaz's career rates are just lower because he played for so long.

538280's system:
Yaz: 393.62
Ed: 375.8
Al: 342.01

You really like my system that much? This is like the 3rd or 4th time I"ve seen you reference it. Great, if you like it.

It seems to make sense, as long as you trust win shares, which I do.
