Watching the Twins-White Sox on WGN tonight, and I heard Hawk and DJ mention that before the game,Twins pitcher Brad Radke announced that he was most likely going to hang it up after the season.

Radke has been pitching through a lot of pain, and is currently pitching with a partial tear in his rotator cuff.

I've always had the greatest respect for Radke and how he conducts himself on the mound. If in fact that this is Radke's last season in a big league uniform,I wish him nothing but the best the rest of the year and whatever the future holds in store for him.

Yeah I heard that too. I was shocked. I guess. I really respect Radke too..it was sorta sad to me.

At his age to go through the necessary surgery and rehab would put him out until 2008. He apparently doesn't see that as a worthwhile way to go. He's probably right.

Radke was/is a good guy, but an overrated pitcher. He's probably being realistic; after surgery and rehab he probably wouldn't have the stuff to pitch in the bigs anymore. Rotator cuff surgery isn't like Tommy John surgery.

Overrated or not, he's had a good career, and will be missed.
