The Rays have the exact amount of wins and loses that they had at this point in the season last year! Last year they finished the season strong so chances are, after all is said and done, their winning percentage will be down. Improvement this year??? Don't think so.

This team has had more then its share of injuries. Most of us expected Lugo, huff, Hall and Hendrickson to be traded and they were.Delmon Young was expected to be in the majors by now and the only reason he isn't is because of himself.I think the team is headed in the right direction. Should it finish with fewer wins then last year, doesn't mean it hasn't improved itself.

I see Gomes hitting .220. Cantu at .249, Zobrist .213, Upton .196 and Travis Lee at .219. Thats alot of holes in the starting 8. The starting staff is at best mediocre and the relief corps is bad. There is alot of work yet to do. In my view, aside from Kazmir, Crawford and Baldelli theres not much proven major league talent.

Gomes is crippled and should have surgery. Cantu has been injured most of the year. Upton has had a very controversial year. Just a few weeks ago, Zobrist was playing in AA. Travis Lee has been a bust and probably won't be re-signed. Other then Lee the other players mentioned are young and there is no reason they won't come back.Zobrist and Upton need to get the playing time. Navvaro looks like an upgrade from Toby Hall. The big question for next year is can Delmon Young keep with the program, keep his mouth shut and just play ball.

It still remains to be seen if the new ownership is just another Naimoli-like group in wolf's clothing. Besides free parking, tailgating, bringing food in the Trop and a fish tank in RF, they haven't spent a whole lot of $$$ to upgrade the team on the field. They point to '08 but there has to be a whole lotta improvement in a lot of guys before I see anything like that happening here.

I agree the Rays have not been the team they should be .
At this time of year they should of had Upton-Zobrist up for at least 1 Month wich would of helped them devellop even more and they might have been around .250 if they had been up longer . The Pitching staff is horrible , we don't have a stable closer and our present rotation relies on 2 rookies and Jae Seo , one of the biggest busts of the year . Here is what we should look forward to for the 2007 campaign :
71-91
C Dioner Navarro
1B Wes Bankston (R)
2B Jorge Cantu
SS Ben Zobrist (R)
3B B.J. Upton (R) (Joel Guzman could be up too)
LF Carl Crawford
CF Rocco Baldelli
RF Damon Hollins/Delmon Young (if his moma teaches him how to behave)
DH Jonny Gomes
BN Tomas Perez
BN Greg Norton
BN Russel Branyan
BN Josh Paul
SP Scott Kazmir
SP Casey Fossum
SP Tim Corcoran
SP Jae Seo
SP Jamie Shields/J.P. Howell/Jon Switzer
RP Ruddy Lugo
RP Chad Orvella
RP Dan Miceli
RP Travis Harper
RP Brian Meadows
RP Sean Camp
CL Seth McClung
