Well everyone, I'm gonna be in the belly of the beast tomorrow and friday (NYC). You better believe I'll be sporting my beantown pride, I'm sure I'll have some hecklers, maybe even some threats. I probably won't be able to catch either game on friday cuz I'll be with my woman and I only see her about once a month, hopefully I'll see later that we won both games. :D Keep the faith sox fans...

You've got more cojones than me. I plan on someday going to Sf to watch my Dodgers, but after all the horror stories I've heard, I would NEVER wear my Dodger gear in the open up there. :hp
IMO you're looking for trouble, but good luck! :waving

No matter how true it is don't start any "Yankees Suck" chants. Other than that you will be fine.

You better not go to the game on Friday if you want to and if you get tickets in the bleachers with your Sox Cap on because I heard that the drunk New Yorkers get pretty rough up there with our kind .

well I was surprised that I only had one guy say something to me and I don't even know what he said. The rest of the time I just got these crazy looks, now they'd probably just laugh at me or shake their head. Damn Sox!!:grouchy

I didn't think you'd have anything to worry about. Seeing people sport Sox gear in New York is a common occurrence. It's different in Boston though. When I lived there, I was sure not to wear Yankees gear when I was out in the city. It's probably because the fandom in Boston is much more compressed than it is in New York. Boston has 500,000 people, and all are obsessed with the Sox - so anyone that sees you in Boston wearing Yankees stuff will take notice and probably offense. In New York, there more than 8 million people, many coming from all over, so the obsession with the Yankees is not nearly so concentrated.

It can't be anywhere near as bad as going to a peace march wearing a shirt that proudly states your Canadian nationality. I had some guy come up to me and scream, loudly "**** you, go home, you don't know what you're talking about". At the time, I was 12 years old. Sorry. Off topic. It also can't be anywhere near as bad as going to Michigan Stadium wearing red.
DoubleX is right. The Red Sox are not a team for a city, but for a whole region (or Nation, if that's what you want to call it), whereas the Yankees share their city, and with the large number of people coming from other places, Yankee-fandom is not something that's just about required if you live there.

well I was actually in bronx territory, that's why I was a little surprised, but yeah in Boston, forget about it, don't be sporting yankee gear there. :laugh
