could be an interesting pick up for Pittsburgh..He had a hot and cold stint with the Tigers..Playing in COPA, wasn't that great for him..and I think the Tigers expected a lot from him..and when he had problems, the media there
just tore him up..When Pena is on, he can carry a club..and drive in runs with
the best of them..when he gets into a funk, it's whiff city...
He lost his starting job last season, when to AAA Toledo, got himself right,
and hit a ton of dingers, the final six weeks of the season...Leyland had no use for him..and the Tigers just released him...Pena signed with NY, and
had a clause that if he wasn't up by a certain date, he could be freed..
at one time, Boston was looking hard at him...if Pittsburgh could work with
this guy, get inside his head, cut down on his excessive whiffs, he could be
a diamond in the rough..he'll hit a lot of hrs..but will always have a certain
amount of whiffs...but the potential is there...IF DL is willing to gamble..
whatta got to lose ??

Yup, but in a matter of speaking, he is Jeromy Burnitz.
I know Burnitz is overpaid even for his age, but he can still produce.
You're better off with him than Pena or Eldred now.
