Jim Pisoni

Jim Pisoni made his big league debut with the Browns on September 25, 1953 as a late season call up outfielder. Jim played 3 games at the end of the trail for the Browns, going 1 for 12 and an .083 batting average. His one hit as a Brown, however, was a solo shot home run.

Pisoni got back to the big leagues for short tours of service with the 1956-57 Kansas City A's, the 1959 Milwaukee Braves, and the 1959-60 New York Yankees. Jim finished his 189 times at bat MLB career with a .202 career batting average and a place on the 2006 list of surviving former Browns.

Hi Bill,

My father, Joe Russo, grew up on "The Hill" in St. Louis. He played ball with the Hill ACs and introduced Jim Pisoni to Jim McLaughlin, farm manager with the STL Browns. I have an article that I would like to pass along to Mr. Pisoni. Do you have any insight in the the contact information for Mr. Pisoni? I attempted to attached the article but the size exceeded the system allowed filesize.

Thank you very much.

Kind Regards,
Joe Russo

Joe -

What a great story about your dad's role in Jim Pisoni signing with the Browns. Yeah, you need to get that article to Pisoni, while he's still here.

Unfortunately, I don't have Jim Pisoni's address, or any other former Brown's address who hasn't been active with the annual reunion banquets in St. Louis. What we need is for someone who has a recent copy of the big league ballplayers' "Green Book" by that Smalley fellow. Can't recall his first name. It's not Roy. - The important thing is that the book contains up-to-date mailing address on most former big leaguers. Eve an old copy might work with some of the former Browns since, barring health issues, most older people don't move around that much.

Folks, let's do what we can to help Joe Russo deliver this article to Jim Pisoni. If anyone out there has a "green book" - or knows Pisoni's address - please post it on this thread so that Joe can get this mission done while it still matters.

Thanks,

Bill McCurdy

My guess is that we have a good one in the address that Dave Heller has provided. Frisco is one of those former little Texas towns that has been absorbed by one of our ever-expanding behemoth cities. Older people I know who retire to these kinds of new cities tend to stay put as the population swells around them, especially if they have younger family members nearby. I'm betting that Jim Pisoni is one of these people who still occupies the address that Dave Heller has provided.

In the case of Frisco, it's Dallas that ate 'er up. Frisco is on the northern side of its ever-expanding big brother, and it has benefitted from the baseball side of things. It now has grown big enough to have its own club in the AA Texas League, with its own nice ballpark too. The Frisco RoughRiders have existed since 2003.

What the heck, Joe. Just copy what you have and send it to Jim Pisoni at the address we have here. What do you have to lose? Also, please keep us posted on this thread if you get a response from Jim Pisoni. We don't really know the state of his mental and physical health at this point in his life, but it would be great if he were still capable of appreciating your efforts.

Bill and Dave,

Thank you for the Jim Pisoni's address. I live in Dallas -- Frisco is just a short drive. Superpages.com shows a DL Pisoni at that address. I will let you know if I am able to deliver the article.
