Bruce Bochy: managing with the Padres in jeopardy?

Well, his managing skills, despite winning three West titles and one pennant...one thing's for sure: his Padres are nothing but first round exits, with the exception of 1998, as was the case last year. Who here think it's time for the Padres to get a new manager? Last year, I was surprised he remained with the Pads despite losing eight games in a row in a rough stretch. Some bet GM Towers' excuse is similar to: "He is liked in San Diego." Why do I hear people booing at him at PETCO Park during rough stretches then? I am not bashing Bochy, but think it's time for a new face for the Padres.

What do you think? Should he get fired or no? In addition, he had two back-to-back 90 game losing seasons, which worries me. I know the best managers go through huge losing seasons. (Connie Mack, to name one)

The biggest problem with evaluating Boche is that he has never had the talent to seriously compete for a championship. His teams usually have to voerachieve to get in the playoffs. That is a sure fire formula for an early playoff exit.

Don't forget that a manager can only do a certain amount of things and in the end of the day , the Players go on the field and they Win or Lose the games. I find that Bruce has done a fine job with the team that hhas been given to him this year , Peavy struggles , no stable 3B , the Pitching staff keeps deteriorating itself and no offense .

I think Bochy is one of the finest managers in the game. He contends with teams that have far larger payrolls. I personally believe what a team does in the regular season is a much more accurate reflection of the managers abilities than postseason records. It's hard to beat a big budget team with two aces in a five game series no matter how well you manage.
