This bat is owned by my 80 years old man and will be handed to me soon. My father cant put a date on it but here is the story behind it.

This bat is from an original production of 4; one was broken at a mlb game that is was tested, one is in our hands, one is in a museum (im not sure but it might be this one : Ross C. Purdy Museum Collection, http://www.acers.org/purdymuseum/exhibit2/e20006b.asp), and the fourth one belongs to another collector.

Now i would like to know wich years it was made and does it have a big value. Not that i want to sell it, but i'd like to know if it belongs in a safe or a wardrobe :)

Thanks for your help !

Simon

Cant tell you the exact year, but it looks vintage 1985-90 or so would be my guess. The Easton bats I used to use back in the early/mid 80s ("Green Easton") were similar in logo design but always had a black rubber grip (which we would cut off and replaced with cloth tape). You may want to contact the Easton Aluminum Co. and ask them about it. I would think they (Easton) would be the most interested in it if it were for sale. I dont see as much interest by a Major League Bat collectors since it is far from something that would ever have been MLB legal.

BTW your bat and the museum bat are different. His is a smaller 33 inch 29 oz. bat (little man bat), while yours is more of a normal college/MLB length/weight of 34/30. I used to use a 34/34 in college, but bats these days are far lighter.

Good luck, I always knew there were Ceramic/Composit bats (TPS made one too), but never gave them much thought.
