Gary Gaetti for MVP

Mike Gonzalez saved a Pirates lead against the Braves Thursday for his 19th save in 19 chances. He is 3-4 with a 2.54 ERA. He has 51 punch-outs opposed to 29 free passes. Not bad for your first season as a big league closer. If he works to get a little better control and lowers his walk total, he could be the real deal.

I couldn't agree with you more , he has been outstanding in his rookie season . The only thing I have to add is that don't overrate him because he is 17-17 , he has only had 17 SVOs while some premiere closers have had 35 and blown 4 but those 4 BLWSs do not mean that the Closer is not good or on a slump (Compare Gonzalez with Benitez or B.J. Ryan who are on a recent slump)
