538280 writes with unusual polish for a high school student. I've taught high school and I've never seen a freshman write with this type of polish, so it got me thinking: pretty much toes the Jamesian line, near the Red Sox...

Is 538280 really Bill James???

I teach high school, too, and I'm not buying it.
However, good luck with keeping this thread open.

No, but there's another member of this site who I think might be. He writes the same way and, from what I've seen so far, thinks the same way.

Bill James (born October 5, 1949 in Mayetta, Kansas) is an influential baseball writer and statistician. Since 1977, James has written more than two dozen books devoted to baseball history and statistics. His approach, which he termed sabermetrics in reference to the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), attempts to use scientific data collection and interpretation methods to explain why teams win and lose.

Then again, after the recent "Elephant populations have tripled in the last month" incident (see the Colbert Report) who knows if you can trust Wikipedia anymore:laugh.

He's got to be. He's very polished. He adores Joe Morgan. He loves stats.

The thing that has me really suspicious: no use of internet slang.

I was literally shocked to see this thread still here when I got home from work.
