NL MVP AL MVP
NL Cy AL Cy
NL ROY AL ROY

heres mine
NL MVP
Pujols
Where would the cards be without him, and his numbers even with the injury are still awesome

AL MVP
Jeter

I hate the Yankees, but after hearing this argued on TV it makes sense, he is pretty much carrying the team (Giambi is doing good, and so is A-Rod to an extent)
Ortiz 2nd

NL Cy Young
This is a tossup for me between Webb and Zambrano....but if Zambrano finishes like hes going right now then he should get it

AL Cy Young
Roy Halladay.

NL ROY
This one I have the least info on, so I'm gonna say Uggla

AL ROY
Justin Verlander, cause I'm a homer and Lirano is gonna miss a start. Plus Verlander is leading the majors in wins

so what do you got?

Why are people convinced that Roy Halladay should win the award? So what if he's 13-2 and 1.09 WHIP? He has almost less than half of the strikeouts Johan Santana has! That should be important, shouldn't it? And there is the matter of Francisco Liriano's 12-2, 1.96 ERA, 137 Ks and 0.96 WHIP. More strikeouts for him makes him a better candidate than Roy, doesn't it?

Okay. We can agree that Halladay and Liriano are viable candidates. Why should Halladay get it instead?

He has been starting all season, he is going to throw many more innings, will have a better record and Win Pct

Your forgetting the season isnt even close to being over, Liriano wont end the season with an ERA under 2, it will probably be around 2.80 or so, Halladay's will be around 3

Well we really dont know that Liriano will finish with an era over 2.00... We can speculate that but we dont know for sure.. I would speculate probably the same way as you but we dont know that...

There are still a lot of games left and anything can happen.. Either can slump or get hurt... In fact Liriano missed todays start because of discomfort in his left forearm....

I'd personally rather talk about the awards closer to Sept... Another month into the season should bring up more valid debates...

The only real way you can vote for Halladay is because of wins, because every other stat favors Liriano. And regarding the strikeout thing, Halladay's defense really should be the one winning the CYA if he wins it, because they account for over 81% of his outs anyway.

And for anyone hung up on the innings part, they should really be voting for Santana instead of Halladay, because Santana has better numbers across the board than Halladay in all of 1 fewer out recorded all season. I would also hope that these IP junkies also voted for Mark Buehrle and Livan Hernandez for CYA last year in order to be consistent. Otherwise they are just picking and choosing stats depending on their moods and I can't really take their opinions seriously.

if strikeouts is what wins a Cy Young then maybe we should rethink the 4 Maddux has and the 2 Glavine has

and anyways regarding Liriano.....I don't think the Cy Young should go to someone who didn't even start until late like Liriano...I'd rather Santana get it over him

The Twins record since Liriano joined the rotation: 44-21

The Twins record when Liriano was stuck in the bullpen: 17-24

Even before Liriano joined the rotation he was pitching lights out in the bullpen. But with the Twins turnaround since he joined the rotation, you could make a legit argument that he is not only the Cy Young winner, but also the league MVP.

And besides all of that showing how valuable he has been, it's hard to ignore his numbers. He is leading MLB starters in ERA, WHIP, K/9, OPS against, and a whole bunch of other categories. And by season's end, he will only have about 30-40 IP behind the league leaders and should make it over 200 IP by the end of the season. If he gets to that, and his numbers remain at the level they are now, then he should be the runaway winner.
