Good trade for the Rays.
Rays get Joel Guzman from the Dodgers in the this deal.
Hopefully this will pan out in maybe 2 years!

Okay one more time just so I understand...We take our starters..trade them for another "Hot Pitching prospect" that might help 2 years down the line...Okay, again I say, when do we stop and say, "Here's What we build on"..
We're 20 games under .500 and a good shot at 95 losses..No pitching. and we trade our ss who's batting .308??
Does anybody in this organization have any kind of clue????

We didn't get any pitching prospects in this deal. And from everything I've read, Guzman is a stud who could be up here by next year. If he can convert into a 1B, he could be a Derrick Lee type, with his power and height. It's about time Upton came up, he looks OK so far tonight. Time to see what these guys got, though J P Howell is being roughed up tonight by the Tigers.

Lugo himself said the Rays tried very hard to sign him. He is a free agent at the end of the year. Getting two prospects now is better then getting awarded a draft choice if he signed somewhere else. Guzman could be a big time player. Lugo wasn't going to be back next year, so its time to find out about Upton. I think as soon as things cool down we will see Delmon Young as well.

Signs a deal with the Red Sox, averaging $9 mil a year. Obviously out of our price range. He will come back to bite us, playing against him 19 times a year. :ughh

I really don't see Lugo as a 9 million ayear player, but that how crazy salaries are getting this year. It will be interesting to see how Lugo performs under the spotlight of Boston.

If he plays like he did down here in Tampa Bay, you have a real good shortstop. He hit well and was a very popular player. He was horrible after his trade to the Dodgers. In his defense the Dodgers played him at short, second and third and he never seemed to settle in. He wants to play short otherwise he probably would have signed with the Mets. He should be a solid player for the Sox.

He has some pop in his bat and can steal bases. His fielding is not Ozzie-like but adequate. His arm is what gets him in more trouble than his glove, as he tries to rush the throw on fast runners and sometimes the ball sails. Travis Lee saved him a bunch of errors. But he is a leader and should fit in well in Beantown.
