Good deal for Pirates, Wilson will probably play 1B every day, the Yanks lost an underrated pitcher in Chacon, Chacon I've always believed his stint as a closer hurt him physically.

Anyway, both has-beens, Wilson has a decent bat and should produce.

Sorry, but I have to completely disagree with this in the strongest possible terms. Wilson is a quality player who was never given a fair shake by the incompetent Pirates organization and Chacon is terrible--no, one fluke stretch from last year does not change that.

David Littlefield has screwed over this team yet again.

Agreed. How do you trade a 1B/OF with an .818 OPS for a pitcher with an ERA of 7.00? Littlefield should be fired for this; it's outrageous.

I just think back to earlier in the season when they tried to move Wilson and they were asking for a top prospect for him....IMO too high...but trading him for Shawn Chacon, a guy who has all but lost his stuff, is ridicoulous.

Actually, I agree with Wilkerson on this one. Chacon is having a bad season, but he's certainly underrated and capable. The Pirates aren't going to win this year anyway.

On the other side of the spectrum, I feel Wilson is overrated. He's a .260 hitter who hit 30 homers once, and is driving in runs this year because Freddie Sanchez is having a breakout season.

another good deal for the dirty Yankees. Wilson is a good bat to have and Chacon is horrible.

The good thing about the deal is that Wilson won't be able to destroy the Dodgers in September when the Bucs come to town. We've hit Chacon pretty hard throughout his career in Colorado, and to say he's underrated is kinda stretching it. He was lucky to benefit from the Yankees offense, which accounted for his numbers late last year.

Speaking of which, what happened to the prospect the Yankees got for Chacon?
