The trade deadline is just about upon us. I haven't heard too much Zito-wise other than a possible deal sending him to the Mets for Milledge.

Has anyone else heard anything about our A's?

I don't think that you guys will trade him.....but I'm pretty sure that he won't be back next year.

You were right , he wasn't traded but he will leave us in the Offseason due to the Money diffrence between our offer and the BOS-NYY offers .

he's supposedly a Billy-Beane Ultra Fan. don't know why i hyphenated Billy Beane's name, but i'm stickin with it.

so to me, that raises the odds all the way to 1 in 20; i think he'd take less money to play for the A's (from what limited impressions i have of him), but i don't think the A's will be able to cough up enough money to give him a chance, really.

Who cares about Zito when you have Danny Hairy the rabbit.

Zito ain't taking less $mulah to play for the A's. Scott Boras won't have that. It's gonna take at least $65 million over 5 yrs to keep Zito in Oakland. If we do keep him, it will be due to the new owner, not because of Billy Beane.

The pluses for keeping Zito:
His age. He's only 28-yrs-old.
His health. No problems with injuries; never been on the DL.
He's an innings eater. 200+ ip over 5 consecutive yrs.
He has big game playoff experience.
He leads all pitchers in quality starts.

If we're going to overpay for a player, it might as well be for someone like Zito and his impressive resume.

The A's wont pay for what Zito will want, and I dont think they can afford him....small markets....o well...would love to see him in the Phillies red pin stripes next season.

Philly would have to break the bank and more for him to go there. His wish list is the 2 NY's, Padres, Dodgers, and I hate to say this, :ughh but maybe even the Giants.
