I picked Eric's 81 saves because I remember it and because he is canadian. I think he may be done now however. I hope he can come back again and be effective somewhere.

I thought it was 84 straight saves? Joe's might be slightly better, mainly because it's been unbroken for sixty-five years

Not sure which is "better". They're both unbelievable feats that might never be duplicated again.
You should've put "Draw" or "Push" as one of the options.

I prefer everyday feats and went with DiMaggio.

I picked Joes streak because he had to play nearly everyday to keep his going. Where as Gagne could have a few days rest in between save situations. But I've been a closer on high school teams and I know it ain't easy to get save after save without fail. But I can't hit to save my backside so I don't know the difficulty level for that. But it obviously ain't easy or someone else could have done it again by now.

I'm going with Joe. Papelbon might break Eric's record within the next few years. Who's going to break Joe's? Ichiro: doubt it. Mauer: no way at catcher. Utley: give it a week.
Both feats certainly are amazing.

I went with both because any little thing can ruin a save, even if the pitcher or team still wins the game.
I'd be more impressed with the hitting streak if it was done in an integrated league and/or with west coast travel and night games included. If anyone matches Joe's streak the way baseball is now, then that gets my vote.
