I'll buy that trade. Anyone can go into the Braves bullpen and instantly make it better at this point. And I guess Aybar will be the third baseman until Chipper recovers from the injury.

I liked Aybar for the Dodgers. I'm not sure if I'll like this. I dont really care about Baez but I liked Willie.

Wasn't Baez the hot topic last year for several teams? Seems like his value has dropped steadily since then...

Last year was last year though, the Braves got what they needed and should start clawing their way back to the top again(the top of the Wild Card that is! :D )

Coletti gets fleeced in a deal yet again. This guy is a joke of a GM. Why did the Dodgers get rid of DePo for this guy again?

Eh, I'm not sure I agree with you. When I first saw the news of Betemit going to The Hated Dodgers, my eyes opened wide and I thought, "Oh crap, they got some more offense."

Of course, it wasn't like they have needed Baez recently. I mean, losing something like 15 out of 16 games doesn't give many save chances.

Wilson is a good player who we never managed to find a spot for in the field. He prospers anytime he gets AB's and over a full season he can be very dangerous. It seems like the Dodgers like taking away our IF's lol. First Furcal now Betemit! I think it's a good deal still for both teams. Wilson gonna start at 3b for LAD right?

I think I heard they were gonna try Izturis at 3B with Betemit at 2B until Kent comes back.

So who's the Braves closer right now? Bob Wickman or Danys Baez?

Pffffft, even if it is the wild card, it's still the playoffs. I would guess that would be a better way for them to get into the playoffs. They wouldn't have to face the Mets until the NLCS.

Wickman, of course. Baez is going to be the setup man.

Is Martis the guy who threw the no hitter during the WBC?

Wilson will excell the most due to his age , versatility , bat and D .

Absolutely -- he got more playing time as the season progressed with Atlanta, and he has shown that he deserves be to a full-time player. He's a switch hitter, with good power. He may be s-l-o-w, but he is solid defensively, getting good first reactions.

The Dodgers don't need offense, they need pitching. Their starters (except for Penny) suck and their bullpen (except for Saito and Broxton) suck. Trading away the setup man isn't my idea of shoring up the pitching. If the deal had just been Aybar for Betemit, then I would have been ok with it. But throwing in Baez is ludicrous. Aybar and Betemit are basically the same player except that Aybar is younger. No way should this have been a 2 for 1 deal.

Sometimes I really wonder if Coletti is trying to sabatoge the Dodgers intentionally because he is a former Giant guy. I have pretty much hated every trade he has made.

The Reds faced Milwaukee last weekend and are facing them again this weekend. Here are the line-ups from these past two Saturdays games.
7/22/06
2B Rickie Weeks
3B Jeff Cirillo
RF Geoff Jenkins
LF Carlos Lee
1B Prince Fielder
CF Gabe Gross
SS Bill Hall
C Damian Miller

7/29/06
CF Brady Clark
2B Tony Graffanino
1B Prince Fielder
LF Kevin Mench
RF Geoff Jenkins
3B David Bell
SS Bill Hall
C Mike Rivera

So Bill Hall and the catcher's spot are the only things that didn't move up or down. The Left Fielder's spot didn't either.

I hate to see David Bell leave Philly, he was my favorite Phillie and second of all players next to Gomes. Now he's my favorite Brewers player of all time.

The Braves got the better part of this deal. Baez has been inconsistent this year but he still can hit 95 MPH in the radar gun.

Just kidding. Kind of.
