Amazing. The Marlins blow up their team at the end of last year (aside from Willis and Cabrera) and are already better then the Rays in virtually every statistical catagory. I know the Rays management team is new and not to blame. Nonetheless, I'd find it embarrassing if I were in the Rays front office and depressing if I were a player.

But the main difference is pitching. Josh Johnson and even now Anibal Sanchez have stepped up and gave them respectability. Even Ricky Nolasco, though he's tailed off a bit. They have a very good bullpen, with Kensing and Tankersley, plus a legitimate closer in Borowski. They've got young guys playing well, like Uggla, Hermida, Jacobs, Olivo. They have the perfect manager in Girardi, who is a great teacher.

The Rays pitching is in shambles, as usual. Our young guys stink and get sent down, like Waechter, McClung and Orvella. The roster continues to churn at record rates. Vets get sold off to the highest bidder, while we are led to believe that the latest batch of prospects we get back will make us better down the road. We are tired of waiting for prospects, we've been waiting 10 years for a day that never comes.:(
