Did anyone see the stike 'em out, throw 'em out in the Rangers Yankees game last night? I was watching it with my boy and it was agreat opportunity show him a catcher making a play correctly.

As fast as everything was moving it was hard to see at first, but I was looking for his movement making the throw to second. When they slowed it down it was a good chance to show my boy the way that play should be made.

Barajas made the catch and paused for a second to make sure the call was a strike. It was a good pitch and Jeter tried to play it off as a ball. Had Barajas moved to quickly or before the ball had arrived it may have been called a ball. He got the call and then worried about the play at second. Made a great throw and got the second out. A good lesson for a young catcher. I was happy my boy was there to see it.

I looked and they do not have it on the highlight archive as of yet. I wonder if there is a way to request this?

I saw it, the strike call was questionable but framing it and still having time to throw out Damon was a nice play

Nice to see the boys step up and help out Pettit last night!! Clemens could use that kind of help. Hoping they pull it together and make a run.

Though it was a great play,it's no excuse for the loss...we had that game, but once again our pitching found someway to lose it. :( :(

Rod Barajas played for two seasons (he got hurt his first year) with the High Desert Mavericks (California League, High A). He is one of the most popular players who ever played here, not only for his hitting and defense, but his interaction with the fans. He's from Southern California, and his family came to all the home games. Rod's Mom made the best tamales I ever ate, and brother Julio would bring a sackful to the PA Booth, where I kept the batting stats for the message board operator. No hot dogs for us those nights.

In 1994, my first season with the Mavs, we had a catcher (I can't recall his name) who had a 'career game' one night. He hit a solo home run, and a grand slam. He tagged out three runners at the plate, and threw out two would-be base stealers. And, when a runner got hung up between 2B and 3B, ran toward him to make him commit. The runner just froze, and he ran all the way and tagged him out.

Just think how many free agent pitchers the Rangers could have signed with the obscene amount of money given to ARod. An ENTIRE staff.
