My son is the catcher on his Little League Team (10 yrs old). He had a Nokona youth catchers mitt (model CM88K) but it was recently stolen. I am a novice at baseball equipment, can anyone suggest a quality youth size catchers mitt are should I purchase another Nokona. Thanks.

We tried quite a few and settled on the Akadema Prodigy Praying Mantis AGC98. He loves it and catches well with it. Has a strap closure for a snug fit and finger stirrups for all fingers. Fits well, has good protection for the index and thumb and took very little to break in. Good quality and light weight.

My son has had good success with the Mizuno GXC 100 Prospect Series. Its a 32" transitional model. Easy break in for him, he likes his mitt flat as a pancake. Personally though, speaking as an ex-catcher, Nokona and Kelley mitts are the best I have ever put my hand in.

Both my sons have caught for a few years and have enjoyed their Akadema AGC-98 32" Prodigy (youth) mitts. My older son is moving up to the Akadema APM-42 32.5" Professional Series. Great mitts!

I have had good luck with a Rawlings RCM30 - Good for 11-14 y/o and not that expensive.
