Hi Everybody,

Just found the site and I am glad to be here, and of course I need some help. My father was drafted by the Senators out of the Navy when he returned from Korea in the early 50's where along with fighting he managed to box and have some success in Navy baseball. He was knuckball middle reliver and did manage to see a fair ammount of action eventhough he was up and down from the minors. Anyway he did pitch to Ted Williams (his hero) once and I have tried to try and locate the box score from that game. Any idea where I would have my best chance. It would mean a great deal to him.

Thanks

Tom
PS Anyone have a guess at who my Dad is?

Hello tompg,

Welcome to Baseball-Fever.com! Probably your best starting place would be Baseball-Fever's "sister-site", Baseball-Almanac.com. There you'll find a section called "Team by Team" with a roster for each year's team and score results.

Here's the link to the Minnesota Twins section.

Minnesota Twins-the original Washington Senators! (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teams/minn.shtml)

Scroll down to the bottom, find the year(s) your father played and click on the year. Then you can scoll down further to the portion where it lists "Box Scores, Schedules, Scores & Splits". That should help you narrow down to the games where the Senators played the Red Sox. Hopefully you can find what you're looking for there.

As far as who your father may be, right now I'm clueless. I suspect that I'm one of the "greybeards" that frequent this forum at age 53-the original Senators left town in 1960, the same year that Ted Williams retired. I was a lad of 7 at the time and am finding how much I don't know (or don't remember) almost daily.

Hi tompg- Welcome! :waving You can also find boxscores for each game, each year at www.retrosheet.org

Click on boxscores(left column),then choose the year, then the team and click on game log. It has the complete boxscores and inning by inning wrapup of the action.

Wer'e curious to know who your father was. We still love our Senators!
