Ya, I believe I was singing his praises before the season even started. Welcome to the bandwagon pal. Just like most people jumping on his coattails now.

I find it tough to give a Cy Young to a player that could not even beat out Carlos Silva coming out of spring training. The ROY though, I could see that. The thing that bugs me though, is the one time in my adult life when a Tiger rookie is tearing up the league, you get Liriano doing what he is doing. I guess, there is still a 1/3 of the season left, so I would hope that would be enough time for Verlander to seperate himself? Time will tell.

How is that even relalvent? The Twins did the same thing with Santana. They Started him in the bullpen as well. Right now Liriano is absolutely a Cy Young candidate. The fact that he is a rookie shouldn't matter, either. Fred Lynn and Ichiro won MVPs as rookies.

It is relavent, in such that it is my opinion. That's what this site is about, right? I was never even implying that his being a rookie was a reason not to win the Cy Young. So I agree on that point, I was just saying I would hope being in the opening day rotation or not, should count for something in regards to Cy Young voting?

Why is it important what his status on the team was to begin the season, though? I say that if he can rack up those kinds of numbers after not starting for a month, then it's all the more impressive.

So can we go back to draft day? Piazza and Pujols couldn't beat out a lot of guys.

Not exactly a legit comparison in regards to the present season.
I agree with The Commissioner, though. The fact Liriano has far exceeded expectations this season makes his a "feel-good" story. It's not that he came from out of nowhere, he just delivered sooner than expected.

It's relavent because it's your opinion? I read you statement to mean that Lirano shouldn't win the Cy Young award because he couldn't beat out Carlos Silva out of spring training. Is that your argument?
