I just heard on a local radio show that a deal may be near that will send Soriano to Chicago for Brian McCarthy. The Sox may also be close to getting Mike McDougal. This all sounds interesing!

I've heard rumblings of a Soriano deal myself. But the White Sox may have to pay a very hefty price to get Soriano..like a starter and an OF,say Brian Anderson.
Honestly,I don't think that will happen.But I could be wrong here.Stay tuned.

I'd been hearing the Tigers were the frontrunners, but I didn't hear what they'd give up to get him. Man, the Sox with Soriano would be deadly...
...but could you imagine the Nats with McCarthy and Anderson, after getting Kearns and Lopez, with guys like Vidro and Zimmerman already there? Eeep, they could be GOOD next year.

Why would the Sox trade from an area weakness to an area of strength?? The Sox are scoring runs like there's no tomorrow, but there starting pitching and middle relief have been not so good. The Sox need pitching not hitting.

I agree, I hope this is thought out well first.

I hope he does. For purely selfish reasons. I always loved seeing him play as a Yankee. I hardly ever get to see him as a National. But, my satellite provider includes WGN in my programming package. And WGN regularly shows ChiSox' games.
Hopefully I'll be watching Soriano play in the windy city soon. But I'll probably still dislike the ChiSox.

I heard yesterday that Soriano is happy to stay where he is and that may well happen!

It's most likely a tactic to drive up the price on the Tigers. The Nationals are said to be asking for AAA fireballer Humberto Sanchez (who started in the Futures game) and class A top-prospect Cameron Maybin (also a Futures game starter, at 19 years old) for Soriano. Washington already has a high asking price for Soriano, but a trade with the Tigers was still possible, due to their well-stocked farm system. Since it is highly unlikely that Soriano would re-sign with Detroit in the off-season, the price is probably too high for the Tigers to make a deal, so Chicago's tactic is probably working.
I agree that it would be a silly trade for the White Sox if they do pull it off. People are talking about how deadly it would make the White Sox lineup, but as someone already mentioned, they are deadly right now. It would actually weaken their chances at postseason if they were to give up their future ace for a two-month rental player, in my opinion.

Almost always a "future ace" turns into a "what ever happened to that guy". I'd make the trade if it meant a greater chance at repeating as WS Champs.

Nah...I dont know if McCarthy will ever be considered an "ace" but his stuff is real. Ive seen him pitch firsthand about 6 times and when hes on he has great command and moves the ball around very nicely. The problem is the Sox just aren't using him as he should be used. Apparently Ozzie is afraid to hurt his buddy's Javier Vasquez feelings and put him in the bullpen to let Brandon rotate. The white sox management are afraid by bull-penning Vasquez they will hurt his marketability and value:noidea
Have they lost their minds? Whats more important? Making the playoffs or a pitchers marketability and sensitive feelings?

read on espn.com that the sox are balking at the nationals offer of soriano for mccarthy and soriano for fields? (3B prospect, think thats his name) and that the talks are breaking down between the two.

Yep... I'm sure the Mets feel the sameway having Vic Zambrano instead of Scott Kazmir
