This is funny but at the same time, it is a shame in many ways.

I think it's funny how they make fun of the term a "True Yankees"

Agreed. Can a Met or Red Sox become a true Yankee?

Nice article. Seems longer than those on The Onion, but seemed nice.
As to a Met or Red Sox becoming a "true Yankee", I'll only say that I'm not very pleased with that term. I've known a few Yankee fans since Yogi's rookie year and they don't know what a true Yankee is either.
Anyway, the monumental 1998 season was dedicated to Darryl Strawberry, as he'd had colon cancer and some alcohol problems. In fact, all of the post-season champagne was non-alcoholic, in his honor. 15 minutes after each game's end, the guys were giggling like young boys on the phone at the hospital.
As to Red Sox, Wade rode the NYPD horse, Clemens was liked (not in the same way as Boomer), and Damon is being taken in as part of the team by the fans, from what I've seen.
