Hey, if a guy gets plunked with ball four, does it go down as BB or HBP?

It's still hit by pitch.

I had a unique situation that I wasn't sure how to score this year.

Runner on 3rd base with 2 outs. Batter swings at stike 3 and ball gets past the catcher. Batter runs towards first base and runner on 3rd comes home. Catcher tags the runner from 3rd at the plate before the batter gets to first for the 3rd out. Does the batter still get the SO? :noidea

I'd say he does. A K doesn't necessarily have to be an out, like when a batter gets to first on dropped strike three, and the pitcher strikes out everyone else too and gets credit for 4 Ks that inning.

Hmmm... looked and couldn't find anything to support my views, not yet. I would say no - it is scored as a K-E2

I agree with Shoeless -- a K is a K is a K, regardless of whether the batter is put out.

The batter will be considered to have struck out regardless of whether he is put out. Conceivably, if he reaches first, it is as a result of a passed ball, a wild pitch, or an error (if a bad throw).

However, in this situation, it is a caught stealing -- 2 unassisted. I guess you could say that, if the batter reached first before the runner is tagged, technically it's a wild pitch or passed ball because the batter would be credited with reaching the base because it was no force at home. But the facts posited here are that the tag was before the batter reached first. So, there's no error or passed ball. Just a K against the batter and the caught stealing.

Score it a K with a Fielders choice allowing the runner to reach 1st.
Runner from 3rd is out caught stealing.
