This guy started out the year like a stud... I just saw he blew ANOTHER lead tonight against the Reds. Is he officially done as the closer?

14 ER in his last 3.3 innings....I'd say his leash just got shorter after yet, another dissapointing performance.

err, wait. It IS the Brewers. Who else is going to close for em?

I think they should make an extra spot in the bullpen each night for fans to line up and take their shot....1st one to throw 3 strikes outta 7 gets to be the closer for the night.

At the moment I have very little confidence in Turnbow as a closer and even less in Danny Kolb (who hasn't really shown much at all this year after hoping that when coming back to the club would be the Kolb of a couple of years ago)...Bullpen by committee? Maybe, we need to try something and there aren't really any guys in the pen that I'd trust to shoulder the whole load.

The way the team has been playing as of late the playoff charge that we were poised to make is now seemingly dead in the water, at least by trying out different guys we have something figuered out for '07.

unfortunately, Kolb is taking over as the closer for a little while UNTIL Turnbow gets back into his normal self. Kolb sucks real bad and I am pissed that they took Turnbow off the closing role, but who knows..this could put a fire under Turnbow to want his job back. I really like Turnbow, he is a hell of a player. He's just in slump right now, doesn't everyone have a slump? Yeah, they do. Turnbow will be just fine, he just needs some time to get himself together...everything will be fine! GO BREWERS!

We can only hope so.

This should be interesting. I went ahead and added Kolb to my money league. I guess we'll see how that little experiment works... I hope Turnbow can get it going again.

I have the feeling that taking Turnbow out of the closer's role is a very temporary thing.

By letting Kolb close for a little while, it gives Turnbow the chance to work in the bullpen with Mike Maddux to clear things up. As the closer, he doesn't get the chance to work on anything because he might be needed several nights in a row, if not that night.

This happens to all closers (well, except Rivera). As much as I can't stand seeing him throw that damned curveball, this will be for the best. His velocity is still fine and there's no talk about an injury, so I think this is just a hiccup.

Trust me you do not want Kolb to close!!!!!! It's a living nightmare!!!! He couldn't get a frekin' save for the braves. And they spent a lot of money on him!!!! HE IS NOT A CLOSER!!!!!

Have you forgotten the years before he was a Brave? He was our closer for most of 2003 and 2004 and ended up with 39 saves in '04.

HE IS NOT A CLOSER!!!!!

That's true. But, right now, Turnbow isn't either.

I think the only reason the job fell to Kolb is because he's done it before.

And remember, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

My guess is that they gave it to Kolb temporarily because he probably was the only one who wanted it. Matt Wise pretty much said that he didn't want to do it. He emphasized that "Turnbow is our closer, he just needs to work out a few things and he'll be back."

Meaning that Kolb is a joke and that they still have faith in a return from Turnbow. I'm not worried about Cordero at all, he'll be a good reliever but will not take over the closing role. He has blown too many save opps. LET'S GO TURNBOW!

would you Brewers fans like it more if we got Turnbow and Lee

I want Turnbow to stay in Milwaukee. If you want Lee, you'd have to go get him from the Rangers. Turnbow is a hell of a pitcher but something is bothering him. He needs to overcome this problem and pitch like an all-star again! I have faith.
