Just a clarification, you cannot "Send down a player" you must specify whether or not you option him, outright him or possibly assign him (he still has to pass thru waivers if he has over 5 years experience).

From now on I consider any "send down" and "option", you're lucky I won't consider it an outright.

Check out the rules thread, it's explained there, in this case, your best bet is to "option" a player to the minors, since he'll go down safely.
However, every time you option this player to the minors you use up one of your only 3 options for this player.
Players with 5 years of MLB experience have options, but in this case he can refuse the option and become a FA>

Well, all players automatically refuse unless there is a personal problem, so, a veteran cannot be optioned succesfully.

You place a player on the 15-day disabled list 90% of the time, even if it's a serious injury, aftrer 15 days he is eligible to be activated but can remain on the disabled list, that's the goood part about it, once you place a player for 60 days he has to be out for at least two months, GM's usually place players on the 60-day DL for serious injuries and when it is conmfirmed they'll be out at least 2 months, retroactive means the day he was injured or stop playing and that you place him on the DL based on this day, 15 days afte the retroactive date he can be activated, same for the 60-day DL.
