View Full Version : CKL Free Agent Auction
leecemark
07-20-2006, 05:32 PM
--Premium Free Agent auctions commences at 9PM EST. The following players will be auctioned off one at a time;
Andre Rogers
Woody Held
Earl Battey
Bill White
Clete Boyer
Milt Pappas
Roger Maris
--Once the bidding for these players is completed all remaining unsigned players will be available for bids. Minimum bid in both the PFA and secondary auction is 250K and raises must also be in 250K (or amounts divisable by 250k) increments. The bidding for secondary free agents will end at 11 PM EST on Monday, July 24.
--All owners who will be participating in the free agent process are encouraged to post thier current salary level and number of players under contract. As a reminder, the penalty for exceeding 100M at any point in this process is the loss of your high bid players (or players if needed) and a reduction in next years cap by 5M per violation (i.e. if 2 players need be disallowed the penalty would be 10M for 1964).
Beanie Bill checking in, on behalf of the Skipjacks.
We currently have 38 players under contract for a total of $96.25 mil. As we are close to the cap, we will make ourselves available for proxy bids exceeding our cap space ($3.75 mil).

Diablos are at 34 players for $68 mill, but as TV revenues in Brooklyn are low, we're looking to cut salary (or maybe just because none of the premium guys are any good), and are going to look to pick through the bargain bin on free agents. On the other hand, if a team has needs from the FA market that it can't meet because of cap restrictions, we're certainly open to hearing any proposals.

Just thought I'd remind everyone on the rules for FA signings...
Less than 2M: 1-2 years
2M-4.75: 1-3
5-7.5: 2-4
8-11.75: 3-5
12M and up: 3-6

Just thought I'd remind everyone on the rules for FA signings...
--I remember discussing some changes to the salry/years range, but we never actually made them as far as I can recall. The rules still have the range as;
Less than 5M: 1-3 years
5-7.75M: 2-4
8M and up: 3-5
--Did we reach agreement on a change that never made the rules thread?

No agreement was reached on changing the structure for free agent signings. There was no vote taken. The original rules still apply.

Mac is correct, as usual. There was a lot of discussion (another problem started by yours truly:o ), but no vote was taken nor rule change made. The rule is currently as Mark posted, with only three contract ranges.
Legends are at 33 players and 80.75 Million in salary.

Willie Davis and Al Smith were retained by the Hard Cider and Diablos when nobody put a claim in on them before the start of this auction.

07-20-2006, 08:38 PM
JW, I think since no one filed a claim prior to the PFA auction, they stay on their present teams at the appropriate salary.

Mark - I did discover I made a small error when I posted my info at the start of the auction. I was working on my salary spreadsheet during the auction and discovered that I in fact had 81M in salary, not 80.75M as stated, at the start of the auction. I don't think it made any difference, but I apologize for listing bad info.
Allright then--we had one FFA not bid on (Rodgers), two that went down in price (Boyer, Maris) and four that went up (Held, Battey, White, Pappas). In the end it looks like our total $$ went up by a healthy margin. Good news for the agents!

Sorry I couldn't make the auction last night. Had a family emergency (daughter had a minor car wreck) so was attending to all the issues with that.
I should have sent my info to a proxy as a backup, but fully expected to be present. I had every intention of keeping Battey...back to the drawing board. LOL
