Well, Shea Hillenbrand for a good starting pitcher sounds pretty good to me.

it's really a shame if he gets traded but i would understand and it looks like he
does as well. i really like his bat but the fact is that there isn't a lot of oppertunities to get him in the line-up and he looks like he is getting more tired of toronto. i thought he would be a problem at the start but he's been a solider and hasn't said much. pretty classless on the jays part too not say anything about adopting a new baby and for a manager to chew out a guy out for toiling in a workout for that long? wow, i can definatly understand the frustration.

What a joke! They didn't congradulate him for adopting a baby!:laugh,a congratulation is something you shouldn't expect. Someone should remind him that he isin't a .350 40HR guy. I've hated this guy ever since he played on the soxs, right after he cut off Nomar in the infield and threw the ball into the stands to lose a crutal game in the wild card race a few years back.

Geeze, good thing you're not bitter or anything... But I feel your pain, I am not super fond of the guy either! :laugh

I think not being congratulated is just an excuse to get out. In a way, I'm nt surprised this happened. Shea has been unhappy and I'm sure the all-star break, and then being away with his family made him realize just how unhappy he was. It's kind of a bad situation, because the Jays lose a good player and it looks bad on the organization. I hope this doesn't drive the buying price down though.

Just before the Red Sox traded him he made an appearance on a Boston radio station. When the subject of his name in trade rumors came up his response for GM Theo Epstein was "trade me now faggot". Once a jerk....

The BJ's will be lucky to get a bag of balls for him after this dustup.

from the LA Times:
(Angels) General Manager Bill Stoneman would not say whether he had spoken with the Blue Jays on Wednesday or whether Hillenbrand would qualify as the "impact guy" the Angels seek, but he did say no trade was imminent. Toronto General Manager J.P. Ricciardi told Fox Sports he was trying to acquire a pitcher, not an infielder.
Also, there's a thread in the Padres board called "Is Hillenbrand now an option?". I guess SD just released 3B Vinny Castilla. Who know's if anything will develop there - I heard they were interested in Morgan Ensberg.
Anyone else see JP trading Shea for prospects and/or draft picks?

Shea might go to SD but I doubt it, the Angels will prolly get him.

now this is sort of getting ridiculous on both sides. i was on hillenbrand's side after his first few comments now this is just getting silly. i thought that maybe the organization could be classy and say thank you too him for adopting a new child. i'm sure when vernon wells comes back after having a child, the front office congratulates him. and i'm sure that hillenbrand isn't the first guy to slack off during BP. i wasn't to angry for him coming out with those comments.
but now it's clear he is just trying too smear the organization and right now, we really dont need this. we need to start winning ballgames and this isn't helping the locker room right now. we just lost two tough games and have a very tough series coming up. hopefully we can get a middle reliever for him within the next few days.

Hahaha. LMFAO. I'd kill to see Shea Hillenbrand fight with John Gibbons during a game on NATIONAL TELEVISION(the game is on ESPN tonight).

Im glad he is gone. Maybe we're not winning because his average went down 50 points in the last month or two. I hope we trade him to some crap team for some relief or starting pitching. I doubt Gibbons was actually going to fight him.

Lord have mercy. I know a crap team that is trying to unload pitching. We've got enough troubles and that sounds like just the kind of horrible trade the O's or known for.

That's what you call sensitive. Too bad though, he is talented as a baseball player, but such a baby off the field.

I liked Shea before this, but gimme a break. Don't let the door hit you on the way out buddy. Makes me wonder which now ex-Blue Jay was responsible for the so-called atmosphere. This is where the team pulls it together and wins 25 of its next 30, or something like that.

I hear the Giants are offering a Minor League pitcher at Fresno by the name M. Valdez. Anyone know about this guy. A report out of Fresno says the deal is about to go down!

Defense Counts!

Hopefully we will get a good reliever for him ... a Paul Quantrill type who can eat up innings with a solid-if-not-spectacular ERA. We definitely don't need another bat. The other option is a defensive infielder who can replace the sieves in the middle infield; someone who can come in late in a game when the Jays have a small lead.

I agree, we need middle relief, but man, what'll we get for him now?
Hey, remember when Shannon Stewart was traded? That was another all-hit no-pitch team, and they didn't get a pitcher for Stewart! Pitching is hard to get.

Well we got Accardo who has a 4.91 ERA. He is 25 years old but I dont know much about him. To bad we had to give up Chulk to.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants acquired Shea Hillenbrand from Toronto on Friday night, two days after the Toronto Blue Jays booted him from the team for clashing with management.

The Giants sent reliever Jeremy Accardo to Toronto for Hillenbrand and reliever Vinnie Chulk, getting in Hillenbrand the every day first baseman they had been seeking before the trade deadline. Both players were expected to be in uniform for the Giants on Saturday against the San Diego Padres.
Hillenbrand was designated for assignment during Wednesday's game after writing "play for yourself" on a board the Blue Jays use to post batting practice times. He later wrote the "ship was sinking" before manager John Gibbons challenged him to a fight during a team meeting.
"We started talking and negotiating with these guys before the mishap," Giants general manager Brian Sabean said after the team moved within a half-game of the NL West-leading Padres following an 8-2 win. "I feel there are two sides to the story. It will be left for people to decide what happened in Toronto."
Hillenbrand, who has a $5.8 million contract for this season, is batting .301 with 12 homers, 15 doubles and 39 RBI.

Accardo should help out our bullpen majorly. He has a midnighties fastball. a nice split and a tight slider. He should help us out alot. His number seem crappy but he is a lot better of a pitcher then he sounds. He was once touted as the future closer for the Giants.

Don't know much about this guy, as I don't watch all that many Giants games. Hopefully he can make an impact in the Bullpen. It's too bad they couldn't have thrown Barry Bonds into this deal. :laugh
