Has anyone here attempted to do it??
I have good legs so I probably could outrun the fat security guards(the ones in Boston), jump back into the seats, and drive outta there. It'd be pretty cool.

one of my friends back in college was going to do it at the old coiunty stadium back in like 1998.
he was ejected before it came to that point though. i think he was charged with public intoxication or something since he clearly was (he had somewhere close to half a liter of vodka before the game)

funniest thing I have seen at a game.
guy runs out on to the field with batting helmet on backwards. slides head first into 2nd base then runs out toward right field before stopping getting on his knees and putting his hands behind his back ready to get handcuffed.
was a day game at ameriquest and i think he started drinking the day before. :laugh

I agree. Very juvenile, and not cool at all.

If I ever did it, I would have to have drunk over a gallon of the strongest alcoholic beverage imaginable. And that would completely ruin the ballgame for me (the drinking part), plus jail doesn't sound fun. Tarp sliding (a la Mark Buehrle) does look fun, though.
But you said it yourself in the thread title. Running like an idiot onto the field during gameplay.

Probably the most ill advised and foolish thing to do at a ballgame.
People should soak up the game and enjoy the experience. Not make a fool of oneself.

It's really not all that funny. I remember a few years back when two guys jumped onto the field and attacked the Royals first base coach. Not cool at all to see a drunken moron run onto the field to try to be funny or impress someone. You have to be kidding me...It's just something dumb that delays the game. The best part of them coming onto the field is when the idiots are tackled.:grouchy

The Dodgers have made it a rule not to show them on TV or mention them on the radio. That way, they don't get any "recognition" for their idiocy.

I remember some idiot running on the field during a Jays game on the road and Ernie Whitt was coaching first and put the idiot in a chokehold until security came.
Thus proving that Ernie Whitt is the man.

Almost all teams do that now, which I don't like because I like to see how thier trip onto the field ends:D.

I despise any "class-Less" thing that can be done on a baseball field. Running onto a field is one of them, cussing in the stands with woman and children present is another one. Heckling is part of the game but there are limits there as well. Foul language and/or saying personal things to players shows no class. Neither does throwing anything onto the field. Lately frustrated fans at the Wrigley bleachers, and understandably frustrated, have occasionally hosed the field with trash after the Cubs blow another one. I understand their being pissed but if they really want to send the Cubs a message they should stop buying $40 bleachers seats, and spending $50 to $100 apiece on beer at the game, instead of throwing trash on the field.
Generally ballparks have become safer and more problem free. Theres a little less drinking, fewer fights, less idiots running onto the field, more families present, not as much ignorant heckling, and you dont see fans smoking dope in the stands anymore.

What actually happens to you after you get carried off the field? What are the penalties?

Yeah to tell you the truth I always feel sort of deprived when they don't show that kind of thing on tv. You're sitting there going "What's happening? What's happening?"

Go for it, then I'll laugh at you when you get beat down by the security guards and get a nice fine and/or jail time

The police may be fat, it is a highly desired paid detail, but the security guards are very fit, well trained, and move fast. You clearly haven't been to Fenway lately.
First they catch you, with any willing player assisting. Then they drag you off the field, identify you, ban you and your family from Fenway forever, the radio and tv announce what is going on, do not show it. They always announce that the person will be arrested, jailed overnight, and pay a hefty fine.
If you think you can get on the field at Fenway, back off and into the stands, and away; c'mon and try it. Just to make it interesting, wear a Yankee Tshirt.
For the record: I AM KIDDING. Don't do it. There are good hospitals in Boston, but being arraigned at bedside WOULD make it on tv for Mom to see.

Hey, the last time the Jays were at Fenway they showed us a shot of a police officer eatting donuts next to the Boston Dugout. His chair nearly broke.

I guess that sentence makes sense where you come from. So you think men should cuss around woman the same way they do when its just the "buddies" getting together? I guess thats what your implying eh?
Funny how words like "sexism and racism" get thrown around so easily nowdays.:D

But with that logic, letting women and children go first on the titanic was one of the most classless and sexist acts of all time:rolleyes: :noidea :grouchy

Whats the point in running onto playing fields. Apart from ruining a game (well it does in soccer, not sure bout baseball cos i haven't seen it happen apart from the guy in Minnesotta that got tackled by the batboy), you look like an idiot and get banned from the stadium for life, fined and probably jailed. Yeah...definatly good fun that

I don't care about it during a rain delay. Like I said, tarp sliding looks fun, but I'll pass on doing it at an MLB field.
Oh, and what about that guy who pulled a knife on the 1B coach?
