Hi,
First off, I'm new to the forums and it seems like a great place to get help on this problem that I've been having. I've been playing catch with friends for awhile, almost every other day or once every three days and my throws have been coming in strongly and at my fastest speed yet. All of a sudden, a week later, my throws have slowed down tremendously and have been pretty high. I have no idea why. The only thing that I had done that I can think of in between the good and bad throws was to start drinking Muscle Milk, a "High Protein, Carb Conscious Lean Muscle Formula Shake".

If it helps: I'm 15, 16 this August, and about 120-125 pounds.

Thanks

Dear YankeeFan:

First of all, go Yankees!

Second, if it's true that your throws have slowed "tremendously," that is VERY unusual. Certainly everyone has slow days and faster days, but there should not be a "tremendous" difference. If correct that it's a tremendous difference, I recommend you go see a sports doctor, the sooner the better. Not all injuries announce themselves with pain or significant soreness (I"m no doctor, but in particular I've heard people can get a torn labrum--part of the shoulder, without even knowing it). Bottom line, you could have an injury without knowing it, and if so, prompt attention may be important to keep it from getting worse.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't tremendously. It was very noticable though. It doesn't seem to be a bad day or something, as this is the second week of this problem.
Thanks

and go Yankees!

hmm. I'd check with someone who knows your throwing well, and ask them if anything is different about your appearance/mechanics. I can tell when something is mechanically different in how my son's throwing.

This is total shot in the dark, but when my son's throwing gets slower, problem # 1 is he's throwing kind of stiff and flat-footed and "all arm," without generating any momentum by using his torso, or his body (like a crow's hop). Wild guess.

Nice weekend for the Yankees, eh?

I have, and the only thing they noticed was what you said you discovered to be your son's problem. I've fixed that, but my arm still isn'ty back.

Thanks for all of your help so far

Great weekend for the Yanks.
