Does anyone know how to post Hi-8 video?

The video camera in question is a Sony Digital HandyCam.

I am assuming you mean the recording media is tape. You are going to need to send it through a capture card. I suggest you take a look at the Pinnacle / Dazzle product line.

Yeah, Hi-8mm is an analog tape format. Which means it aint digital and its has to have its video/audio converted to digital format, or DV. The good thing about the digital camcorders is they convert the analog signal to DV right in the camcorder. From there its just a transfer of the DV to computer via firewire, which is nothing but an data information highway.

Its probably best you just bought a DV camcorder. But If you wanted to keep your 8mm's, and I keep a few around, the Dazzle type video converters aren't that expensive. Once you convert to a Digital format you then have to re-compress to a digital streaming format like Windows Media, or WMS, in order to stream the video over the Internet.

I just looked at your post again and it looks like you do have a Digital Cam. The only difference is that cam of yours records DV onto 8mm analog tape. So.....its easy, just hook up the firewire card into a firewire card on your computer and dump onto hard drive. If your computer is younger then 4 years it should have capture software, which should open when you connect the firewire. Thru the software you prompt the camera to play and the program to "capture" video onto hard drive.

I posted a thread about video in the baseball fundamentals forum about 2 weeks ago.
